If it is worth hiring a pro, choose Data Savers LLC in Georgia.

Data Savers LLC is a professional data recovery lab in Atlanta, GA. Our team can recover data from hard drives, RAID, SD cards and more!

I used them for hard drive recovery and was very pleased. I found the owner on a forum dedicated to data recovery pros and I liked his posts. I researched other companies and read some pretty bad reviews and horror stories. When a number of the other companies don't have any luck, they send their stuff to this guy. They were very fast and kept me up to date as they learned anything. I had a new external drive with my data back to me in less than a week from them receiving it.

Why do you think it needs fixed? What is going on with it? Just be careful you don't do any more damage on your own, unless the photos are not worth professional recovery. My neighbor (computer tech and programer) and I both tried to read my drive with other computers and even linux, as well as an adapter cable. I decided to hire a pro instead of trying the software that you can get to diy.

I had my phone update one time and all of my pictures disappeared. I downloaded a free utility to copy the card and it pulled the pics out. I knew the card was good and it was just a system issue. The photos may have been deleted, but they are not gone until something overwrites them, and I acted fast enough, then made sure I had an internet based backup program and I keep multiple backups of my computer now.

    Good luck.

What do you mean by fix? Do you mean you are trying to recover the data because they were written over, or were the cards physically damaged somehow?

I've used a free program called "recuva" that has helped me recover data off the memory card. But that was because the data wasn't badly written over. If you have saved over the data couple of times over, there may not be much you can recover.

        Photorec.

Just don't write to it, and as long as the controller is functional on the device (it's seen as a drive letter in Windows?), and you can probably carve the pics (even after a format, but format is not needed, and could cause loss of date).

Make sure that the reader supports the size of card you need to use (SDHC, or whatever).
Some old readers will not read High-capacity cards, depending on the tech.
