samsung s5 black screen of death

Got in my car this am and the screen was black on my samsung s5. Got to work and screen worked normally. Got back in car to drive home and screen was black again.

Phone is on, sensor buttons work, can hear the phone working, but no screen. Researched it and there is something called the black screen of death.

I've tried a few home remedies but nothing has fixed it so far.

Anyone have experience with this issue?

I've never heard of anything like that. But best of luck fixing it.

mine did that more and more often. i noticed one side of the screen appeared to be coming up more than the other (almost like the glue wasn't holding one side down or excessive pressure in my pocket on one side was pushing the other side of the screen too far inward).

each day i would push the screen face down into the bezel with medium force and i haven't gotten a black screen again. i suspect the connection to the screen is not making proper contact inside when the screen is lifting up.

not sure if its a similar issue to yours, but give it a try.

The black screen of death can display in two forms. One a as a black screen with a little phone ! and computer on it and the other as just a black screen with no light or anything on it.

The true BSOD is when the AMOLED display develops a defect.
At that point get your data off as fast as you can. The display will deteriorate and eventually go completely black. It is also possible to attemp to turn it on one day and nothing happens.

I've had two S4s that exhibited both problems, one had a defect and the other just failed to display anything.
