    adding a ssd drive to my mac pro

    Want to add some new life to my 2007 mac pro. Which ssd would you recommend ? I was thinking about getting the Samsung 120gb evo...from here

    My write read speed now is only about 50 mb per sec

    I really like Crucial and Intel... been using them for years. Never had any problems. I'm sure the Samsung is just fine too. I would however get the 250 GB drive over the 120 for $25 more.

      I would also recommend 250gb, Samsung and Intel are my 2 go to SSD providers but any of the major brands should be fine really.

        I think mine are Samsung 256gb and a couple cheap ocz 120s.

        I had an ocz fail about a year ago, after running it since 2012. They replaced it without issue. The other one I'm running seems fine, but it's not an os drive anymore.

          The Samsung SSD in my Mac Pro has been great for the past two years of heavy use. It's mainly been a server. To preserve the precious drive bays, I've installed this PCI adapter and it's been working great. http://www.apricorn.com/products/des...el-solox1.html

            Also get a 1TB drive and use that for Time Machine backup.
            If the SSD fails you have a backup.

            I backup everything, laptop, desktop, phone....
