    what is ERR_CONNECTION_RESET?

my laptop is acting weird. it is a older vista laptop, but i use it for school work and stuff. a few days ago chrome slowed down a bit and whenever i try to go to youtube or other sites like netflix it fails to load the page saying ERR_CONNECTION_RESET. or the website will load but the thumbnails will be blank. my other laptop works fine so i know it is a problem with just this one. what is going on and how do i fix it? whats odd is that if i am on another site and click an embedded youtube video i can get to youtube and it works fine, but typing in youtube.com will fail to load the page most of the time. i have AVAST and have never got any virus warnings, but i will probably run a full scan tomorrow anyway.

Does it work correctly if you use a different browser like Firefox or safari?

This issue doesn't have a one fix solution. Could be any number of things on your laptop. First try just turning off the anti-virus/malware software that's installed. If that doesn't work, you could try re-installing the network adapter drivers. Wipe them completely off and re-install.

You answered your question. Avast isn't even remotely the best AV out there. If you got the free version, it probably has put some malware that you aren't quite aware of. I would start by removing Avast, that what I used to do with all my customers and their "FREE" anti-virus. Then, I would try and down Emsisoft Emergency Scanner, it works, then you can do Ad-aware. Once those two are complete, you should be able to play the vids.

that's not it, the problem is coming from something called google.analytics.

Tracking software on a website. Do you have any extensions installed on your Chrome to block this stuff such as AdBlock or Ghostery? I know Ghostery blocks google analytics (I use it on my Chrome). If you do, you can try disabling the blocking just on the sites you wish to visit.

Are you serious? This is Calguns, and your first post is in the T&I sub-forum? Try the above advice, and post your results.
