    IOS 8 for iPhone 4S

I've got an iPhone 4S that is still running what I thought is ios 5 but actually 6. Lately, there have been many apps that I've been really wanting to use but they all require ios 7 or later. I presume that ios 7 is no-can-get anymore and so I'm really thinking about updating to ios 8 but I keep hearing about all the problems it has.

Was just wondering if anyone with iPhone 4Ss and ios 8 can chime in on how they like it?

    Thanks

It's not the worlds greatest idea. My wife did it, and her only consolation is the 6+ that she's almost eligible for.

We had a 4s we upgraded 8 to, and it ran ok. It was a bit sluggish at times. Honestly though, the 5/5s is as low as I'd go if I had a choice, in terms of phone spec running the new OS. They both handle it fine.

I think your 4S is end of life. +1 on 5C/S as the minimum to upgrade IOS to 8. The IOS 8 will consume roughly 1GB of space just to install it and if don't have the room to grow on top of that you're fighting time with your 4S.

Hard to find new apps on the old OS and hard to put the new OS on the old phone.

iPhone 4s will run IOS 8 - you can verify that here bottom of page https://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/

But IOS 8.3 is the worst thing to happen to my iPad 2 - I wish I would have stayed on 7.x. Experience may be different on phone though, it runs OK on my iPhone 6. Safari on iPad is terrible now on my iPad though - slow and buggy as heck.

Runs good on my 4s. Run a little slow but again it's 3G. Does well on my Ipad 2.

Yep it runs OK on iPad 2 - it is just the new Safari that I can't stand. And since surfing is mostly what I do on this iPad, it has been painful. They have changed a bunch of stuff around, and it just crashes all the time on sites that used to give me no trouble at all - including certain operations in Calguns now that will crash it every single time.

The other horrid thing is that 95% of the time now, Safari will re render the page when you use the back button - slowly almost as if it is reloading the page from web instead of cache. And it also takes you back to the top of the page almost always after hitting the back button now. That used to rarely happen in the IOS 7 Safari. So you lose your place.

I am using Chrome a lot more until they get it fixed. But all my bookmarks and my cookies are in Safari, so using Chrome has been a hassle.
