static when trying to play you tube videos on firefox

I'm almost ashamed of asking.. but I really don't know what the problem is... When I go to play a you tube video thru firefox I get static .. with a message saying error.. I have reinstalled flash and that's about it..

hopefully someone here has a fix.

I have seen fake static (saying an error has occurred) when the pipe isn't fast enough. I assuming that you are not saturating your internet pipe w/torrents too.
For this I would try unplugging DSL/cable-modem, and/or router, then powering them back on starting at the wall and working your way to the computer.
(Unplug dsl/cable-modem, plug back in, then do the same w/router, if they are not the same device...
Unplug from the AC, not the device side of the power.)

Are you cabled, or WiFi? If WiFi how many bars is WiFi showing?

All assuming you are using a recent Windows OS:
I would blow out Firefox AND flash, then reinstall both as a first step, or a factory of Firefox.

MalwareBytes scan and AV scan. That would be my second try.

3rd try a "chkdsk /f" as Administrator (or as a member of the Administrator's group, if UAC is disabled) and answer Y, then reboot... something might be fixed this way.

I have never had this issue, so just guessing at what I would do... as I assume you already tried powering off, unplugging power (or using switch) and thin hitting the power momentary switch a few times to discharge the everything, then flipping on (plugging back in) the power supply and turning on.

This is also assuming you are not overclocking.
