Ignore function?

Sometimes I get fed up with the stupidity on this site and just sign off for a month or so. Lately I noticed that it's just a few people that I think are stupid and piss me off. When their posts are in the middle of a thread, I read them before noticing it's one of the morons that I don't normally pay attention to.

Is there an option when I see their posts that I can click on to put them on ignore so their posts don't show up?

Correct. You have to hate them enough to know to spell their screen name and then to type it into the web form.

The web form does auto-complete, though. I recently added "Helmut Shmacher Space Chimp" and I only had to type "Helmut" - the "Shmacher Space Chimp" filled in automatically.

I've tried it in the past and my curiosity always got the best of me. I just needed to see what the idiots posted this time. So, I stopped using it. Of course, since LAH has been here, I've been considering trying the ignore list again.

That's right. The ignore function is only good for when you know that the poster will have nothing useful or interesting to say. But you can add someone and take them off later. Also there is the "view post" choice for when you are really curious.

not that hard to highlight user name via mouse/trackpad -> copy -> go to user cp -> ignore list -> paste

Thanks guys. I've been on here since 2004 and have never used the Ignore feature but I'm having fun now. I just went to "off Topic" and started clicking on names. Check the "See all posts by X" and if the first page of posts doesn't have anything to do with guns, I add X to my ignore list.

This should keep me busy for the rest of the evening.

It's already working, I read a thread in "Off Topic" that I normally wouldn't and saw the message:

"This message is hidden because XXXXXXXX is on your ignore list."
