    Comcast Xfinity cloud DVR?

I am considering switching from DirecTV to Xfinity, as I already use Comcast for my internet and it would end up saving me quite a bit on my monthly expense.

I am concerned that I will not like the Xfinity DVR though, so I thought I would ask here if anyone has any recent experience using this new cloud DVR service?

They claim you can watch news & sports on a tablet or laptop from anywhere and I just want to make sure it works the way they describe it. Thanks!

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

The U/I on Xfinity is pathetic! They don't have a way to only view what you are subscribed to. You can make a favorites list with your subscribed channels but you'd figgure they'd have this. When you scroll through your channels/favorites list and get to the bottom you have to scroll back up instead of the list cycling through. There is also no skip forward 30 seconds. All the on demand network shows force you to watch the commercials so no skipping through unless you record the show (yes even old ones)

    It's really quite maddening!

ATT Uverse is much better and has more HD channels and the U/I and remote are much better designed.

I'd stay away from Xfinity TV. They have great internet though but that is where it ends. Att Uverse or Dish Network. Att has good deals right now to. Just cancel at the end of your contract and then re-sign up to get another deal!

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I called and cancelled the appt. The guy called back and asked for an explanation, so I gave him a few of the points you mentioned. He told me there are "workarounds" on these, like that the commercials are short, you can skip ahead 5 mins and then rewind, etc etc... I was just quietly waiting until he finished the pitch and said "not interested"

        Thanks!!

The workarounds shouldn't be necessary! They are actively trying to get you to watch commercials even when you pay the high price of DVR box fees. The 5 min skip ahead is only good for recorded hockey hit it 4 times and then go back two min between periods. For regular programming this is just a huge pain. The commercials are not short! They are long. Plus they are just more expensive then the competition. What did you end up going with?

I currently have directv and I'm happy with it, but comcast was trying to get me to switch TV to then so I would have all 3 services through them.

On a funny side note: My wife has been complaining about our Internet being slow for years. She has a 5 year old laptop and has Norton and McAfee both running against each other. Ive tried explaining that it's not the Internet service that's slow, it's just all the crap she has loaded over the years. I finally bought her a new laptop a few days ago and 1 hour later she finally had to admit I was right after years of her telling me to switch out the Internet service
You'd think they would listen at some point.
