Who makes solid, durable "snap caps" in various chamberings?

I've been spending some time practicing the trigger pull on a few of my guns to make sure they aren't getting stiff or loose. I know that dry-firing on an empty chamber repeatedly will eventually break the firing pin (no matter which gun it is), so I'm in the market for some snap caps in various chamberings.

Anyone have any input as to where I can buy them for a decent price in quantity as well as premium-quality snap caps that won't wear out or break after 100 or so dry fires?

I bought a bunch of .38 Special dummies from Law Enforcement Targets - http://www.letargets.com/prodcat/tra...ummyrounds.asp and I'm happy with them.

I like the Tipton Snapcaps. Good for all kinds of training including dry firing and FTF and FTE drills.

^^ those look of high quality.
and I can advise something you might already know.
the type that are inexpensive, hard plastic, orange & a one piece design, they might be OK for a few uses but the rims on my older versions of that type always broke off when a metal extractor grabs them.

( .. then you could just use them to try some " clear the major malfunction" drills.)

I think they all get pretty scabby after a few dozen cycles but that is what they are supposed to do (simulate brass or soft steel).

If they were 'durable' they might start hurting the gun.

I've gently filed down burs on the purple aluminum Snap-Caps. They weren't jamming but didn't want to find out or risk anything.

Make your own that are the correct weight. Seat and crimp a bullet in a FL sized piece of brass (no powder charge or use an inert substance). Use pieces of pencil eraser in the primer pockets.

A few dozen times? LOL. Even the cheap plastic rimfire one I have last longer than that. Be careful when you make a blanket statement like you did here. There are some pretty nice one like the ones made by Pro-Shot. They will last a lifetime!

Works, but no visual evidence they're dummies. I find that a drawback for my uses.

No big deal, just color them with a sharpie or, better yet, powder coat them the same way many guys are cheaply powder coating cast boolits.

A-zoom/Lyman makes very durable snap caps.

only Pro-Shot I see are these funky mop-heads for 12ga.

Real nice and brassy and top quality no doubt (2 for $20) but I don't think they'd be good for cycling actions in pumps or autos. Edit: LOL, looks like someone tried. From link.....

Don't try to use these in a semi automatic shotgun... They jammed my Mossberg 930 SPX and I had to remove the receiver in order to remove them. The mops themselves are of good quality and, since I already had an adapter that makes them compatible with the threads on a standard cleaning rod [the brass backs screw off], I was able to find a good use for them. Wouldn't buy them again though.

LOL, reminds me of an old (1970s) Sears catalog that said "These flotation (truck) tires are designed for greater support over soft ground, not for buoyancy in water".

I'm talking about how little nicks and scrapes happen to my A-Zooms when ejected from a Rossi lever action or Glock.

I've had those tipton style ones break on me. +1 for the A-Zoom dummies.

I like the Tiptons because the primer is spring loaded so it puts less stress on the firing pin.

I use the cheap bright orange plastic molded ones that Dillon Precision sells. I have been using them for years. I use the .22 LRs for dry firing, and it has not made them unserviceable.
