Nobody is going to give you their stories. Especially not for no monetary compensation while giving up their right to their life experience.

The Constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms. -- Samuel Adams, Debates and Proceedings in the Convention of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 86-87 (Pearce and Hale, eds., Boston, 1850)

Not sure if this is serious.

Those of whom I know who have been to war and/or those currently in war zones tend not to talk about their experience...it seems to bring back memories that in many cases are unimaginable unless you've been there.

Those who yak it up all the time are BS-behind-the-lines poseurs, generally.

So your "friend", the comic book / video game designer doesn't offer compensation, but you get a free download? And you also lose all rights to your story? True prostitution, imo, for someone who's stood up to defend his country.

      Sounds legit.

True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.

Life's journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy schit...what a ride"!!

It is not that he doesn't want to give compensations, he doesn't have the means to give compensation. Maybe there can be royalties or something, that is between Mad Science Media and the story teller. I am trying to help a friend get his business off of the ground.

Why do you think that a Veteran of a War or one that saw any combat would feel comfortable enough to share them with you? Most of the men I served with wouldn't share their experiences with most unless they had a common thread with them. Ya I can imagine some would but without the trust that comes with being another brother at arms and having been there and done that I myself cold not and would not. Good luck.

Comic book / Computer Nerd looking to make money off the backs of combat vets and offer no compensation to the guys who actually had their boots on the ground. REAL Classy!

Why doesn't he offer to return a substantial portion of any proceeds to those who offer their stories?

I understand what you guys are saying. I am a Desert Storm/Desert Shield Vet myself (NAVY). I don't have to many combat stories being on a ship the whole time, but my Veteran friends (Army/Marines) and I thought it was a good concept. We have spoken to other Vets at our VFW post and they love the idea. That is why, I was asked to branch out.

Why doesn't he offer to spend a substantial amount of his time volunteering at a veterans' hospital? Seems that might be a way to both give and receive.

                    Thanks for your service!

But I still think it's not an equitable plan.
