Ideas for a better view on my Hi Power front sight

i've noticed that its getting harder to see my black fixed front sight on my Browning Hi Power...when im at the range any dark targets (silhouettes) or areas seem to blend in quite a bit with my sights...any DIY remedies?

its not really worth compromising the gun by taking it to a gunsmith for any work...maybe someone is willing to share some ideas about adhesive i could put on it, or a certain type of paint or similar easy fix...i heard something about some type of Sharpie paint pen, not sure

as you can see, its pretty much a no frills front sight

Ted Yost makes and installs a "Gold Line" front sight which is pretty awesome. You can kinda see it here:

A better view from the Heirloom Precision website.

Did somebody say Hi-Power front site.

I am going thru the same thing you are. I called Browning to see if they would put a dovetail grove in the front for the newer sites of today. They said that they will not do any mods to their guns to modify the org. specs. OK, I get it. But I am going to search for a gunsmith that will do it. Your idea, if done would not last at all. They need a Dovetail in the front slide. I would do it, but I do not own a Mill. It has to be done right the first time.

I'm in the same boat. I have a BHP MKII that I would love to put night sights on like this:

If anyone has a good lead on a gunsmith in California who can do this kind of work, please let me know.

In the same boat as Ted. Love to upgrade sights and a better safety. Guess you got to pay to play.

Nail polish in the brightest shade of orange you can find, I got lucky and got a random bottle that hasnt come off with any of the solvents I use, one pistol has the same coat from 2 years ago and has been cleaned with solvents at least two dozen times

If you are looking for a cheap easy solution, the other day at sportsmans warehouse I saw they had these little bottles of what looks like neon colored nail polish, but it was for painting sights. I was thinking about getting some and putting it on the front post of my BUIS on my AR for fun.

Novaks - they'll put great new sights on your BHP. Next one that goes there I'm having the rear wide notch put on

you can paint the front sight white, no need to alter its classic profile

On my mk I I can't swap sites so I was in the same boat. When I first tried it I used white out to see if I liked it w/o having to worry too much about un doing it if I didn't. I don't know how long it took me to switch from that to nail polish because it actually held up pretty well.

                            Something I'm pondering.

I am thinking of having J&G gunsmithing in Granit Bay 916-786-9200 to cut a dovetail to install a new front site on my BHP. I called them and the man said they would cut the front dovetail only for $65.00 + any other parts and labor. I'm pretty shure this is what he said.

+1 on This. I did it on an old Sig as well as an older revolver. The stuff mentioned at Sportsmen's could be cool too. I use nail polish to protect areas while acid etching knives.
