    Samco Global Arms

    Hi,

I wonder if I'm the only one who's having a rather bad experience with Samco Global Arms, or is it typical for them?

I sent them several emails with no response, and when I called them, the lady on their end was, how shall we say, not very knowledgeable and even less helpful. All I'm trying to do is buy a f4-5 C&R rifles from them. Well, by now, the count is 2-3, for two of the rifles I was trying to buy were sold out.

I guess, I shouldn't impose my business on them and distract them from whatever it is they're doing.

Pursue it only for the comedy value. I doubt you'll end up with a rifle.

They are famously inept, and don't like selling to California.

At least they wouldn't sell me any ammo. It only took about 3 weeks to figure that out.

      Let me get this strait...

A company doesn't respond to a few emails (how many and over what period of time? and were they written like the post above?) and a phone call gets you a minimum-wage worker who can probably take orders, but isn't a gun nut and can't answer some specifics?

And on top of it all, they're out of stock on an item or two?

3 emails in 3 days so far Edit: make that 4 emails in 4 business days. So, you think they may not like my style?

The rifles are C&Rs, and they got sold out while I was trying to get them ordered. Well, the Schmitt-Rubin K31s with walnut stock did.

The lady on the phone informed me that the emails are handled by another department (didn't know the company was that big. They don't seem to have enough inventory to support a big company though), which can only be contacted by email. She'd be appy to take my order once a) she gets my FFL. The FFL emailed to the people handling Web orders doesn't cut it, for she can't access that info (do they have separate systems for both, too?); and b) once it's verified that the contents of my Web cart (through which I initially tried to place the order) are gone. Go figure.

And yes, I do like to know what I'm buying, hence I do expect to be provided at least some basic information about the rifles I'm getting. It's not like I'm buying brand new rifles with manufacturer's warranty. Heck, most of the manufacturers and even the countries that made those rifles are gone by now. So I don't necessarily require a gun nut, they're an opinionated bunch, anyway, but at least someone with enough knowledge to answer what I presume are frequently asked questions.

It's a pity though, their prices seems alright.

I bought a Tiger Stripe K31 and a M24/47 through them using the web site. Point and click, never spoke to anyone, no problems. Rifles were in great shape.
I have no problem buying from then again. Why did you need to email them when they have on-line shopping?

Because I got the error message asking to contact them when I was placing an order.

Edit: and I wanted to know the ETA on the Spanish M1916, but that's irrelevant to the order I was trying to place. Hey, that Swiss K31 with tiger stripe was the one I wanted. Oh well, it's not like they disappeared, I'll just have to pry it out of someone's cold dead hands with enough cash later in life

Sounds like you might have tried to order something just as someone else had bought the last one.

they have been notorious for weak service, also their phone persons are also notorious for not speaking english

-But when they deliver, the product rarely disappoints

                    Samco is to be avoided.

My experience with them involved a large ammo purchase - long before any problems with California laws - and the only thing in the deal they did right (for them...) was charge my card. The shipment went right into the twilight zone, never to be seen or heard again (the order was in the mid four $) and I had to sic my card company on them to get in cleared up. The Green Genie came through.

In reading your post, it seems they don't have much employee turnover - every individual I spoke with was more inarticulate and uninformed than the last.

                      Chock another up for disapointed.

Called them up spoke my broken highschool spanish with them as it was better than the english being spoken to me on the other end of the line and did my order. Two weeks later I call back and deal with the same issues only to find out theyre never going to ship out the order I did. Telling me they dont ship to Los Angeles. I ask if they mean county or city, they say either. Im in Glendale and never had any issues having ammo sent to me before this. Apparently they were hoping they could take my money and never send me anything.

Forget about the Spanish Mauser in .308. Samco has been advertising them as being on backorder for the last 2 years. I called to ask of their ETA in 2007 and was told one month.
