Was doing homework on cheap weapon mounted lights...... Update.

And found out that there is just no such thing as a cheap decent quality light. The best thing I found for the price was a TLR-1 with a pressure sensing switch at around 30 bucks so to have a low pro, decent quality light was around 140 buckeroos. I'm always a cheap ba$#&*d so does anybody know of one. I want to make it clear that I don't want a cheap light, I want an inexpensive quality light. Given, this will not be for use in combat or anything like that, just a light on an AR for a few multiple night shoots or something like that.

Question 2, does anybody know where to find an incandescent version of the TLR-1 rather than the C4 LED setup that everyone has now instead. I don't like LED for any kind of target acquisition on a pistol I am good to go on the rifle, and now I'm looking for my 2 HD pistols.

The TLR-1 isn't even really a good rifle light. The beam spreads really wide really fast (I have one - it lives on my Sig).

You could get one of the weapon light mounts that accepts a flashlight... or just duct tape a flashlight to your AR.

Not the light, just the pressure switch. I may end up getting a G2 if I can find a pressure switch adapter.

              Ahh. Gotcha.

As for the G2 pressure switch adapter:

In the $70 range you can have a Fenix TK-10 mounted to an AR that will blow that G2 away in terms of runtime/output. Plus LED > Incandescent bulb (This is coming from a Surefire fan )
Its made in China..but its definitely as solid as a Surefire. A good time to pick up a Fenix LOD CE for your keychain as well.

No pressure switch that I know of, but there are several mounts that take advantage of the rear switch on the light (as seen above).

Also the new TLR-1 just came out with a brighter more efficient LED. (C4 LED version)

VTAC mount and G2 combo for $50.

You don't need a pressure switch.

Anybody use the CAA g2 mount. I like that its a quick disconnect and no screws to mess around with.

                        Kinda off topic........
Sorry but my experience with a Fenix says it is't as good as a surefire. Out camping a few weeks ago and it gets dark so I pull out my TK10 nada, nothing, zip. Swap in some new battries and same thing. Play with it for a while and get a dim glow from it that comes and goes. Good thing I had another light with me because my fenix is junk. I will be shoping for a surefire soon.

While in the desert I tried my TLR1 on one of my ARs and while bright the beam spreads out quite a bit as stated by m sage. It is better for a pistol and closer ranges. We were shooting at targets from 25 to 150 yards. Worked ok on the closer ones but I'm sure ther are better lights out there for longer ranges.

definitely get an offset mount with the appropriate ring size for your favorite flashlight.

Well, I'm now trying to find a TLR-1 in incandescent rather than the LED that is so common. You don't have to try to convince me about LED and the great benefits because the vast majority of the time, I prefer LED for my lighting but on a weapon light for a pistol or using it for a car engine, LED just doesn't do it for me. Anybody buy a regular incandescent one lately or are they all the C4 LED now????
