LASD produced an official video on recommendations to survive an active shooter attack. My favorite gem is at 3:24 "Even in the best cases, police are minutes, not seconds, away." That sounds like "good cause" to me. Unfortunately LASD disabled comments on their video.

Just watched the video. It wasn't terrible. All very 'common sense'.
Aside from being a waste of tax payer dollars.

For anyone who doesn't want to watch the point of the video is to tell people to:
1. Escape
2. Hide if you can't
3. Fight back if it's your last resort.
4. Follow police commands.

One thing I've never seen in any of these types of scenarios- when telling people to fight back, why isn't there a suggestion to "throw every goddamned thing you can lift at the attacker"? Pretty hard to get off a good shot when office chairs and staplers are flying at you.

You can thank Dimitri from Ares Armory for that. He sued his Sheriff after they deleted one of his posts on their open forum and won in court. Now, I highly doubt any SD is dumb enough to allow public comments on any of their social media outlets. Anyway, while you may think it is worth a faceplant, the real faceplant should be directed at people who don't understand the legal ramifications of a public entity allowing public comments on their websites or social media outlets.

I'm disappointed LASD would perpetuate this false stereotype since even according to that right-wing rag Mother Jones, 23 of the 67 mass shootings between 1982 and 2012 were committed by shooters who were not white males.

i just lol'ed at the near end when they said "you should protect yourself" and the black guy picked up a fire extinguisher.

why dont pass laws that allow people to carry guns everywhere, including schools? this would prevent mass shootings.

In the text the LA County Sheriff is quoted as saying:

"Whatever the venue you're going to is a potential site for one of these incidents. You can't rule out that it will happen this trip to the mall, this trip to the supermarket, and you need to be prepared," McDonnell said.

This should be the "good cause" statement of every single CCW application in LA County.
