    Costa Mesa Gun Show

I went to the Costa Mesa Gunshow Sunday and pretty much had the place to myself, $15 with coupon and I used the free parking. Since I was there I picked up #41 srp at $25 and Winchester spp for $22 which is the best price I have seen for primers in a very long time, the pistol powder I did see for sale was way over priced. On the way out I spotted an 'empty' box and when I went to pick it up and toss it in the bin I found it was a full box of x500 55gr Federal 5.56! Looking ahead I spotted a guy with ammo on a dolly, catching up with him I asked about any deals he got on ammo, told me he just bought x1000 of 5.56 and some other ammo, so I was sure the ammo belonged to him seeing only one box of 5.56 on the dolly.

The HB Wal_Mart also had Remington 300BLK on the shelf at $16.00 a box of 20 so I picked up a hundred rounds of that as well this weekend.

    Cheers,
    W-W

So wait. You got the ammo to the rightful owner, yeah? [confused]

A few people on CGN might actually have morals and decency. As for show it blew hard. Worst Costa Mesa show I've ever attended. I did pick up a pre lock J frame S&W for a good price and a few odds and ends but overall the quality of show and vendors was very low.

Glad I missed it....actually I won't go to these shows mainly because they have a no CCW policy. Am I wrong or gun shows anti gun?

            It isn't the gun show.
            It is California law.
You can carry but you can't have any ammo for the gun on you.
I hope you didn't vote for the politicians that wrote that law.

Gun shows in free states also don't want you to carry in the show at least the Crossroads shows.

I don't think it's CA law regarding CCW at the show. On their website it clearly states they "request" that you don't CC at the show...it doesn't say you can't or it's not allowed. http://www.crossroadsgunshows.com/faqs.php

I was there and got a great deal on .45 reloads for $260 for 1000 from Surefire Ammo (buy every show from them now)....got a GREAT deal on a CaseClub 6 gun plus accessory case, a box of speer HD .38+P for $12, picked up 2 Anderson AR lower receivers for $100 from Quantico Tactical and some various cleaning supplies. I had a great time.

They were supposed to be rolling out the new multi-cam dream catchers and bacon flavored freeze dried Duck Jerky at the show last weekend. Anyone get in on that?

I am also working on a group buy for the new high end IJK combat optics that are rolling out at Shot Show this year. We will have access to VERY competitive pricing on high end stuff that will eat into the market share of current tactical grade glass from Barska, Center Point, and Tasco.

Let me tell you why this is such a bad policy. And for the record, I am a LEO allowed to carry anyway. The "No CCW" policy is a feel good idea that supposedly will prevent careless LTC'ers from going in there and AD'ing into some poor schmuck browsing the leather belts at the next booth.

This is a pretty insulting concept toward LTC'ers who are mostly a responsible, well trained ilk. I would rate the likelihood of an accident by a LTC'er as really low.

What I would rate much higher, would be the likelihood of an ALREADY PROHIBITED PERSON carrying in ammo or even a loaded magazine and inserting into a display weapon and creating some sort of mayhem. The 1-2 uniformed LEO's on duty will respond, but not before a heap of damage is done. I would feel better knowing that some honest Joe Citizen standing nearby with a LTC would engage the bad guy and stop the threat before innocent people started getting shot up.

Anyway, that is just my .02 There is nothing to be afraid of and it is a plus to have more armed and responsible Joes in an environment like that.

Great post...yes and to think how it opens everybody up to get rolled in the parking lot or getting your gun stolen out of your car.

It seems they don't trust us to carry a gun, maybe they are worried it may cut into their beer sales

I don't care how they wrote that, it is ILLEGAL to carry at a gun show in California.
It is NOT the shows decision.
                        Here is the code -

firearm. Vendors having those items at the show for sale or
exhibition are exempt from this prohibition.

So technically if buying say a C&R long gun with your 03 and COE and buying some ammo to fire in it too at the show you're committing a crime? Actually AD's can and do happen at shows unfortunately. At the AZ shows the annoying older lady bleats on the intercom about how you have to unload and zip tie your gun before coming in show.
