    Dehumidifier

OK stupid question I just installed(not really an intstall) a de humidifier in my safe, directions say place it horizontally but it wont fit that way unless I cram it between the recoil pads of my rifles "NOT happening" does anyone have theirs mounted vertically? I can't see any reason it should matter it's just a heating element though the directions are there usually for reason.

I'd guess it's not recommended because heat rises and laying horizontal would give the best performance from the unit.

OK, another stupid question. If your safe has no room and you can't lay the dehumidifier flat... will the wooden rifle stock dry out to quickly???

I was thinking of the pads getting distorted or heat damage, I see now that it's not getting that hot but it will be 24-7 so that's why I'm asking.

What kind of dehumidifier did you use?
It shouldn't get too hot it will ruin your furniture.

Mine is mounted on a piece of 1X2 and kept flat on the floor just inside the door. Have you no room there?

The door hits the center divider I'm going to cut a large notch there so it will fit.

They come in different sizes, get a smaller one.

as JDay has suggested (post #8), get the size that will meet your spatial needs.
