Girlfriend and I got a tikka!!!!

We've been looking for one for quite some time now and finally found one at our lgs! 700$ otd including the safety certificate.

    Here are the specs:
    Stainless
    223
    1/10 twist

We have a couple of questions for you guys about this rifle.

    1. What is generally the most accurate bullet weight for a 1/10 barrel?

    2. Have any of you ever had any problems with this rifle?

    3. The company guarantees moa accuracy out of the box, it is possible to match this kind of shooting I did with a friend's rifle?

    [IMG] [/IMG]

    4. Anyone ever send the rifle to the manufacture for repairs? How long did it take?

    Thanks guys
I don't drink or Smoke. I spend my money on gunpowder and gasoline.

I have the 30-06 in SS, so I can't comment on most of your post. As for accuracy, mine was spot on. Still playing around with ammo (Brands and Grains) from different manufactures to see which she likes best (don't reload yet).

I swapped out the plastic bolt shroud with an aluminum one at WWW.TikkaPerformance.com . Mine was fine, but heard several who had theirs fail, so I didn't want to chance it. Other than that, she's been a rock star!!! Have fun with yours, you're gonna love it.

I have two older 595 series in 223 and 22-250. They have shot great with 45 grn winchester white box and do a very good job with 55 grn hornady's. Never had an issue with either rifle even though they have in excess of 3000 rnds a piece.

I have 2 Tikka rifles. Never needed to send in for repair and never heard of anyone deeding to do so.
Yes they are accurate. If you shot that group how many more just like it did you shoot or is it a lucky group. I have shot groups like that with my tikka's.
No problems at all with the rifle except others want to keep it once they shoot it.
In a 1-10" twist I have shot 36 and 50gr Barnes varmint bullets. The 50gr bullets group poorly in a 1-12" twist barrel. I usually shoot 55gr SX bullets by Hornady. I have not tried heavier bullets.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I had one several years ago and it was a tack driver at 200 meters using 55gr bullets. I would not go any heavier than that.

I've shot plenty of groups like that actually after mastering counting my heart beat these groups aren't hard at all for me.

I suppose I'll try 55 grain first then, if it's not satisfactory then I'll go smaller.

Good to know And yes, I will be getting a bolt shroud for it. I personally dislike plastic parts that perform tasks.

I have a T3 SS in .308 & I like it. Haven't had any issues with it yet. Just learning what food it likes best, eager to try 168 gn FGMM. Pretty sure you'll find the ammo it likes, just experiment a bit. They are known for being tack drivers, you'll love it. I also replaced the bolt shroud with a billet part, replaced the factory locking block (recoil) too.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

What benefits does replacing the locking block yield? Thanks

You might be able to get those groups.

But that is asking a LOT from any rifle/shooter. GL with that. Assuming thats a 100 yard group.

                    2. sorry i don't own a tikka

                    3. yes. does your friend reload or buy? your friend has probably already done his bullet homework for his particular rifle.

                    4. sorry i don't own a tikka
It's mostly a target rifle but the gf and I may get into hunting. Our other choice was a savage but that was only a target rifle. We wanted something that would be good for both hunting and target shooting within 300 yards.

My friend reloads for 223, I'm going to ask him for a few of his bullets and see if they work

If she paid for it and it's in her name, then it's HERS ! LOL. There's no "we got a tikka" and "we've been looking for one for a long time", lol.

Because I paid for it initially and my house is the only one with a safe so I get the gun 99% of the time. Also, it's HER turn to pay for a gun not mine. Legally the gun is all hers but realistically it's ours.

I dunno. If she was willing to buy the rifle, I think she can get a boyfriend upgrade
