    MODULUS ARMS JIG REVIEW

Hi all, I just started to do my 308 lower with the modulus jig and I found a lot of problems.
No. 1- The jig is not compatible my 80 percent lower receiver. The universal compatibility is not true. The 80 percent lower receiver I'm using is from Iconic Industries Inc. It's the Instigator. But I managed to modify the jig to fit the lower. I did contact Modulus arms about this and told them the problem and the solution. They said just go on with the things to do and they have no problem with it. But when I told them if I go and try to remedy the problem and if it fails will they send me a new one? I mean just the side plates. They did not email back. Thankfully it went well.
No. 2 the the trigger hole slot is not centered. As you can see in pic it's more on the left by 1 to 1.5 mm.
No. 3- the top plate and the drill guide are not aligned. As you can see on the pic attached, the last hole of the drill guide was covered by the top the plate by around 1 to 1.5 mm.
No. 4 is quite scary. When I was milling the rear slot hole the end mill catch the support screw on the rear take down pin and the router jumped a little it did dinged the lower a little and the end mill was buggered a little bit. I did follow the you tube instructions and it didn't say anything about removing the rear take down support screw when milling the rear slot. I emailed modulus about these problems but they didn't emailed back.

Hey. By looking at your 2nd pic, it looks like your end mill is walking out ouf the collet, which creates wobble. Thus you have a ugly trigger hole. I have had mine for a little bit and have done 11different lowers with no problem. Check your top plate and make sure its in the correct position. You should never touch the take down pin area.

I have used 3 other jigs and found modulus to be the best. Good luck with the next one, hope it goes better.

I don't think it's the wobble of the end mill has caused the ugly trigger hole. I think that the top plate or the drill guide are out of spec. As you can see on the trigger hole the two anomalies are from the first two holes that was done from the drill guide for the trigger holes. And note that it's off by 1 mm to 1.5 mm and that is consistent with the other pic that shows the last hole of the drill guide for the fire control group. There you can see that the top plate is also covering the hole by about 1mm to 1.5 mm.

I've been looking to buy one of these products but now I'm having second thoughts in purchasing. Looks like the top plate or the drill hole guide really is out of spec. If you look at the distance and the position of the anomaly it really is drifting to the right. So did modulus contacted you back?

Until now no email or pms. It only shows how bad their customer service is.

That sucks! Not taking care of your customers is bad for business.
I wouldn't buy anything from these guys if that's the case.

Too bad your efforts turned out of spec on the jig. I'd be disappointed too. Them things r $$.

Call Modulus Arms besides email and PMs. Leave a voice mail as well. Hopefully they respond.

Did my first 80% trial using Polymer80
G150 Phoenix. Polymer ain't bad. It works :-)
Having difficulty posting pixes here otherwise you'd see it.

have several more 80% lowers to do. I'll try Modulus Arms since a homey recommended it. Jig is for AR15 lower though.

We are very sorry to see you are having so much trouble. I would be glad to help you but I am having a hard time finding any emails, phone calls or PMs from you about any problems. I can only see the emails where you were informed it wouldn't fit and you wanted to modify it. Please email sales@modulusarms.com and I assure you it will be promptly responded to.

I looked up your original email where you were told it wouldn't fit before you started. All the emails where you asked a question I think were responded to. When you asked about it fitting your lower you were also told that no it wouldn't and you chose to modify it yourself. Please read the shipping/returns section we have on our site and you can see we will return or modify any jig that doesn't fit a lower. You unfortunately had the only lower that does not fit on the AR308 jig.

I've use the Modulus Arms jig on 2 of there lowers and they both turned out great. I've order another 3 lowers to keep on hand as extras.

I was recommended to Modulus Arms by a friend and I'm glad I took his advise. I've been sticking with Modulus Arms and they have been coming through to me.

I live in SoCal so shipping took under a week for me. My point is that when their site says they have the product in stock, they are in stock and ready to ship.

Used their jig for one of my lowers, besides one mistake that was my fault, everything went smoothly and I plan on making a few more with the same jig.

For those that have done multiple lowers, what kind of wear have you seen? From the sound of it, it seems like the side panels are the fastest to get a bit larger, while the top guide loses some material as well from the endmill. I'm trying to figure out how delicate I'd have to be.
