Need someone with a lathe in the IE

Need someone to shave a 16th off of a bull barrel. 16 Inch, Just need the portion between the lug and the gas block shaved. Nothing crazy, just looking for someone who's local, knows what they're doing, and can get it done. I'm in Fontana BTW, but I'll drive. Thanks

Not exactly IE, but Sherman Oaks isn't too far. And he's a member here. http://www.ar15barrels.com/

Better than what I've found by letting my fingers do the walking. Every machine shop I call does something specific and can't be bothered to throw my barrel on a lathe, lol. Thanks man.

Dude come on. It says specifically on his website that address is for shipping/ mailing... it also says that when you Google it for directions. You have to email or pm Randall in order to set up an appointment. He does good work btw.

When I looked closer, yes, it does say "address for deliveries". ****ty. Not my best moment, but I saw an address and the site says they accept walk-ins and the work will be done while you wait. Kinda hard to walk in when the address is wrong, lol. Should say appointment only. when you google it, it just says "871" with an address. Trust, I wouldn't of went all the way out there for no reason if it had said Postal Plus or whatever on google maps, lol.

That's neither here nor there now though. If he writes me back I may make the trek again, but I'm not really looking forward to blowing another half tank of gas and 3 hours in traffic if I don't have to.

So, back to the point, does anybody know of a local shop in the IE or surrounding area's? It's blowing my mind how hard it is to find somebody who does full-on gunsmithing/machining in this area. Plenty of armorers that can tell me "yup, you need a machinist", lol.

I appreciate the reference, but there has to be more than one guy doing this work in SoCal

It's something that has gone away lately, I'm sure there are more that you aren't hearing about but there's a reason for that. Randall's about the only one Id trust to work on my rifles.

Look's like I'm probably goin back then, lol. might just ship it, idk. We'll see what he says if and when he writes me back, and what may happen between now and then.

Sucks, I have a good friend who does machine work, has a lathe, and is very comfortable working on firearms....I'm sure he could handle a small shave on the OD of a barrel, but he's currently building a new shop and has everything apart/stored in the interim.
