Most of you are WAY OFF, IMO. The best way to buy at Turner's is taking advantage of their weekly specials. I've been a repeat customer there, for a while was buying a handgun a month at Turner's. I got very good prices on SP2009, NAA mini-mag, Taurus PT92 stainless, Kahr CW9. Mini-mag was around $179, the rest were $399.99. You don't what you're talking about, slamming and 'dissing Turner's. Some of you perhaps own your own gun store in competition with Turner's or work for competitors.

My local Turner's staff in San Marcos treats me just fine, they always greet me upon entering the store and try to be helpful. I 've had enough of the BS on this thread!

And some of you should learn how to spell common English words, IMHO. It might affect your credibility, which is all but non-existent, when you can't even spell simple words.

Meh, I've got nothing against Turners. My experiences there have usually been positive. But when I value time, I prefer not to do hour long PPTs when I can do one down the street for 10 min, in and out.

Or go back and forth to the counter, to the cashier and back to pay and DROS. It's inconvenient.

Or be required to buy a lock for a handgun.


There are still uses for Turners, I go in for ammo and accessories. It's great to kill time and look at their consignments. But it's difficult to be loyal to "Turners" when I have Ade's and J&J in the vacinity.

The simple truth is that people end up paying more for service in finer establishments. So, if I want more attention, comfort, service I might buy at Brooks Bros. instead of Wal-Mart. So, don't expect too much. These aren't high paid employees, and that's just the way it is. I do expect some attention and civility, even friendliness, and I can see they're working on it...I've been to more established family businesses in my area that charge way more for the same gun, and haven't noticed any improvement in attitude or service, for that matter.

I walk into Turners with pretty low expectations. The Orange store is a 3 minute drive from me. I have Ade's Gunshop, as well as Fowlers down the street. Ade's prices rivals Turners when it comes to handguns, and their consignment guns are treated as PPTs. So, asking price + 35 PPT vs. asking price + tax + DROS + handgun lock. Fowlers, is well known to be ridiculously expensive for everything they have in stock.

If I need a PPT, I'll go to Ade's and Fowlers first. As I've mentioned before, Turners has their uses. I've noticed other establishments having similar pricing to the Turners chains. I don't see Turners having a significantly better price for me to put up with the inconvenience I've stated originally.

Not too sure why you're getting mad and "had enough" of people expressing their opinions. While Turners is unfortunately one of the stores that loves to be bashed, some of it is rightly warranted. I stand neutral, and wish Turners the best, but they rate pretty far down my "favorites" list.

I don't believe in defaming people or businesses, unless it's well-warranted (may be subjective, only), and noone has cited specific instances of Turner's being any worse than others...in fact, in my area, they're about the best price-wise.

I can respect their withdrawing FFL transfers from out-of-state, etc. as a business decision.

I'd rather they offer no FFL transfers than charge a ridiculous fee. I do my transfers with another vendor.

Seriously, who gives a **** if Turners wont do FFL transfers? Who does them there anyways? This is hardly news and is just an excuse to ***** about something which I firmly believe is needed for some people here to be happy.

Now on an other note, those calgunners I see on a regular basis who do give me business, hell I thank you but for those whining and complaining about prices that are supposedly high because we cant compare to jethros chicken shack and gun emporium in bum **** egypt, well, what can i say? Maybe those of us who live near one care. and to have a perfectly valid FFL who just won't do them is deplorible, considering the state we live in.

Aren't the 01 FFL holders obligated to do transfers as one of the conditions for getting that 01 FFL? I vaguely recall reading something to that effect a while back, and I might easily be wrong on that. Just something to look into.

As for FFLs specifically at Turners, it's expensvive, and they make you buy a lock. I did a PPT there once, and added a lock to my collection of useless crap. Well, maybe, when I have 40-50 barns, I'll have padlocks ready for them.

Aside from that, I've no problem with Turner's. They often have decent prices in their weekly specials, lower than in some other local stores I shopped at. They also often have decent stuff on consignment.

I go to the Pasadena one every now and then. The people there are courteous, most of them, and the ones who aren't, I just don't deal with them. Since I do my research prior to buying something, I don't usually require an advice at the time of purchase, and the few questions I did ask them were answered to my satisfaction.

There're a few things that are lacking, one of them being the variety of ammunition. Couldn't find a +P 9mm FMJ there, for example. It'd also be nice if they were OLL-friendly, but then, I doubt I'd be buying those there, anyway, given the prices (unless they had good specials on them ).

For comparison, I bought my first two guns from Retting in CUlver City. I saw both cheaper at Turner's a few months later. I bought them from Retting because no other store I checked had what I wanted (and the guy at one of those stores also proudly declared that Taurus Tracker 627 was illegal to sell in California for it's not on the list. As you can imagine, I haven't set foot in that store ever since). I later discovered that even though the Turner's I checked out didn't have those two guns in stock, they could've ordered them for me, so I could've gotten them cheaper at Turner's. Oh well, Retting still has good C&R stuff every now and then, and they give 1-year warranty on those.

I guess, that answers the question as to who goes to Turner's I bought 5-6 guns from them so far.

Never had a problem with Kearney Mesa. As soon as they figured out I was not another lookey loo and that I came in wanting to buy something usually, they treated and still treat me very well.
