    Glow On for sights

anyone have any experience with using Glow On paint

my Ruger GP100 has the factory front sight and there aren't many options to change it out, my rear sights are fixed...in fact, i've found zero after market sights for it

it's just a straight black front sight, no frills, and, i put some white rustoleum paint on it that gives me a little better sight with it

i came across a video that was advertising this Glow On product, kind of a cheap alternative to night sights...its not very expensive and i thought i would give it a try

different colors available, thinking about trying the orange Glow

anybody here try it on their sights?

this is one of the videos i've found talking about it

http://www.opticsplanet.com/meprolig...-s-eadbac.html those dont work for a front sight?

The problem with glow paints is they have to be charged up with light before they illuminate.

CZ Uses sights like these. Cool in theory but they do need some direct light for charging.

The paint dries up in the bottle after the first use. I have found that the glow paint (I have only used the glow green color) is harder to see in daylight than just plain old white out painted on the front sight.

The "glow" is pretty bright when charged with high lumen output tactical flashlight for about 1 minute but the glow is gone within 10 minutes (and drops by about half intensity after about three minutes from charging but is still visible).

If no actual night sights are available go with the paint. If night sights are available then I spend the extra money and get real tritium night sights. The loss of daytime shooting visibility on the sights is a big down side of the paint on type.

no, those sights won't work for the GP 100 model #1715

the 3" revolver has a different front sight and fixed stainless rear sights, not the same as the other model GP's

the pics here can show you what im dealing with...i put the white sight on the front with some paint...seems to work fine with that, maybe i should just leave it alone
