Fitting a rem. Mod. 7 action into a 700 stock

I am thinking about having a professional bed my model 7 action into a SA model 700 stock. From what I understand only the back part of the mod. 7 action is shorter than the 700. I am just interested because 700 SA stocks have more choices. I want to make a target rifle.

You might be better off just getting rid of the 7. If you are building a target rifle just get a 700 and start from there. Everything is different with a 7 and there will not be a huge selection of target options because the 7 is an ultra light hunting rifle.
