Ok, for you folks like me who have the occasional business travel requirement, how much equipment goes with you?

Even for a 1 nighter in a nice hotel over the hill, I take a bag with some basic supplies, water, cover, sustenance, flashlight, batteries, ammo, multi-tool, and edc knife, etc.

I have my CCW so no problems carrying any or all of my guns. I don't feel the need to haul an armory around but I've reached the point where I think it makes good common sense to be prepared for any negative externalities. Car breakdown in a remote area, major unpassable traffic snarls, general trip interruption crap where you may need to feed and defend yourself while still a long way from home.

How about you? More? Less? All or none of it?

I fly to most overnight trips. I also hate to check my bag, so that limits me.

Flashlight, phone, charger, comfortable clothes and shoes in case I need to hoof it. That's about all I carry.

    If I drive, it's different.

I don't leave my house with my get-home bag. G19 + 3 mags on top of the usual McGuyver stuff.
*all legally placed and stored....before the CG lawyers chime in.

About the same here. I take a pistol and a folding carbine that share magazines and ammo. Basically a "Get Home Bag" or GHB. A few essentials in case I have to take improvised transport, hoof it, rough it, and make my way home over a period of 3 days to a week. If it takes longer than a week, things will get a little difficult without being able to rest up and resupply. Weather would likely be a big factor. I do carry a rain poncho but no "shelter" per se or sleeping bag. Plan would be to find some kind of shelter if it's rainy and cold. Even a doorway or alcove between buildings offers wind protection, possibly a place to have a small warming fire.
The one thing worse than defeat is surrender.
