Ca Penal Code 12027

Would someone care to help me interpret the following. It seems too painfully clear to be true, so feel free to educate me.

California Penal Code Section 12027

Section 12025 does not apply to, or affect, any of the
following:

(f) Members of any club or organization organized for the purpose
of practicing shooting at targets upon established target ranges,
whether public or private, while the members are using pistols,
revolvers, or other firearms capable of being concealed upon the
person upon the target ranges, or transporting these firearms
unloaded when going to and from the ranges.

(g) Licensed hunters or fishermen carrying pistols, revolvers, or
other firearms capable of being concealed upon the person while
engaged in hunting or fishing, or transporting those firearms
unloaded when going to or returning from the hunting or fishing
expedition.

I fish a lot, as I read this concealed carry unloaded is okay whid travelling directly to and from. Loaded is okay while fishing. This is covered under the same section as Retired LEO carry and I have never seen it referenced here.

It's been covered pretty thoroughly here several times. I'd suggest you use the search function to get more information. And your right, there is definately an exemption for fishing.

Just being practical here: Can you prove that you were either going to or from a range or that you were going to/from hunting or fishing? The reason I say this is because should you get stopped, for any reason, and you're discovered to be carrying without the CCW, that's what you're going to have to do in court.

Otherwise, it appears to be a valid exception to 12025...

I understand your response. I'm not looking for a loophole here. I think a truck full of fishing gear, a valid fishing license, and hopefully a cooler full of fish would be painfully obvious.

When CCWing in accordance with 12027(g), I keep a small laminated card in my wallet with the aforementioned CPC.

Where did loaded come into this? 12027 is an exemption from concealed carry prohibition....its silent on loaded (except where unloaded is specified).

+1 ... loaded is not covered in 12025. It is only allowed where discharge of firearms is not prohibited.

If you have fishing tackle in your car, then it's pretty obvious. If you have your range gear in your car, then it's pretty obvious as well.
