I'm not sure if it's the same as this RE-A5 one but read the description below.

    "Product Description

The RE-A5 receiver extension tube is designed to work with the Vltor A5 Rifle Recoil System. Physically, the A5 tube is slightly longer than a traditional AR-15 receiver extension tube, the A5 tube has seven locking positions and is designed to work with a MilSpec diameter, lengthened collapsable stock, such as the Vltor Enhanced Modstock.

If you are using the A5 tube as part of the Vltor A5 Recoil System on an AR-15 type rifle or carbine, it must be used in conjunction with a Vltor A5 Buffer & Spring. These parts are NOT the same as standard carbine or rifle receiver extensions or buffers.

Attempting to use these parts with standard carbine or rifle recoil systems will result in damage to the firearm!"

A5 buffer tube -should- work with any Milspec collapsible stock, although you may not be able to close it all the way. (Only a VLT0R stock will collapse fully, and maybe only the Emod - not sure about their other models.)

As far as the buffer goes, the Spike's buffer will NOT work with it, and may cause some pretty serious issues. The spring ... I'm about 99% that the spring is just an A2 spring, but I can't remember for sure. I'll have to pull mine and compare it.

Any rifle length spring will work but you do need an A5 compatiable buffer whether one made by Vltor or an aftermarket company.

I bought the complete package from BCM, so mine came with the tube, spring, buffer, plate and Emod stock.

Tell you what - you get it installed, you'll love it. It really is the best of both worlds: you get the adjustability of a carbine stock and the less jerky recoil system of a rifle. I absolutely LOVE mine.
