    50 DTC

After years of planning, saving and spending $, I've finally touched off my first 50 DTC rounds. My Ferret50 took a bit longer to be delivered but 100% worth the wait.

Only 100 yards and 20 rounds while breaking in the barrel, but it was amazing. The percussion is awesome.

I used 10 rounds of mrkubota loaded ammo before I shot 10 rounds of my own. I had never reloaded before and I felt going from 0 experience to trimming/anealing/pressing the shoulder back/loading/fire forming etc. was an ambitious project, but it all turned out great. Easier than I had expected. I use all Lee products at this time. Except for lube....until I switched to Imperial I was not able to push the shoulder back successfully and had multiple stuck cases.

If you have wanted a 50...Do it. Great fun to shoot.

If you're worried about loading/fire forming your own rounds. It's easy. Go for it.

        Like these:
        Ar50
        Viper
Both are 50BMG models. Shooting them is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

Rockit, when did you order your gun from Dave? What barrel did you get and how long is it?

Congrats on your "50 grin". Hurry, you only have about 6 months to develop a load and make it to the FCSA match in Coalinga.

I had the opportunity to shoot one over the summer. Maybe one day I'll actually own one...

                Ordered 11/12...got it 7/14. 29" standard barrel.
Built it on an 80% single shot lower, Dave's trigger, magpul prs and Super Sniper scope.

I've thought about that. Coalinga is an easy drive. I need to find somewhere close to Sacramento sight in and practice some.

8 months isn't bad. I waited 2 years for my ALS upper and finally settled for a RH instead of the LH I had ordered.

Hell, I showed up to my first match with only 9 rounds through my first 50 and none at distance. I was following the break in procedures and just shooting it at an indoor range without optics on it.

Anyway, even if you can't develop your load, don't sweat it. If Dave can't, I can help a little and get you a load that will work alright at 1000. Everyone sites in on Friday so, no need to come with a pre zeroed scope. We can get you zeroed at 1000 with one or two rounds. Don't worry about placing at the top or anything like that. When I went to my first FCSA match, my goal was to keep MOST of my record rounds on paper and that's all I ended up doing. While our matches are not schools or clinics, you will learn A LOT by shooting one.

We do a fun shoot at USI in Concord twice a year too. it is only 200 yards but we have fun. PM me an email address and I will add you to the list to get a reminder. Maybe even set up a time to meet and shoot together some time.

Mr Kubota is a stand up guy and very knowledgeable when it comes to .50s, his ma deuce is very nice. 50 Shooter is also a great guy to hang out with, you can catch them at ASR from time to time along with a few more of their .50 toting friends, congrats on your acquisition.

Just realized I wrote '13 instead of '12.
It was a year and 8 months.

I'm a lefty, but all my kids shoot right handed so I just ordered a RH action. Works very well because it makes it easy to see insertion/removal of rounds.
