    Turners and PPT?

    No I didn't try and PPT a Wasr-10 @ Turners.

Just did a PPT @ Turners (yeah, I know, believe me), I was the buyer. Never done a PPT there as a buyer, so I was wondering what's the deal with the lock? I know at Ade's it's me buying a lock @ Wallyworld, bringing my receipt in, later. I thought i heard something a while ago about Turners only letting you buy THEIR lock. If so, can I buy it, walk out, return it, or have they shackled that too? I know as far as the law goes, they should honor an approved lock bought within 30 days, period, but i also know it's Turners, and they seem to live by their own code.

    It's a long gun, BTW.

      turners and locks

Safe Affidavits don't work with handguns. You should be able to show them a receipt for a lock within 30 days. Or just return the lock you bought from them. They have to take the return.

A safe affidavit is all you need for a long gun or shotgun. If this had been a handgun the safe affidavit is not enough and you must have an approved gun lock purchased within the last 30 days and receipt for it. This is due to the Federal legislation (Child Safety Lock Act of 2005 that went into effect April 24, 2006) This law only applies to handguns. You can buy your lock at Walmart, show the lock and receipt to the guy at Turners (he'll make a photocopy), and then return it at Walmart for a full refund. This works as I have done it at Turners myself.

Just buy a lock at wallys world. and use the reciept. IF you buy a lock at Turners it will be added to your invoice and wont be returnable since it will be invoiced with the firearm. Less hassle. Just use a reciept.

This is the way I'd like to go, just wanted to make sure Turners is OK with this.

Meh, Ive never turned down a receipt for a lock within the past thirty days. Its usually the keyboard commandos who show up with a napkin and scribbling on it who whine cry and complain and bring in their soap box claiming its a reciept that get bent out of shape.
There has been a huge turn around rate since ive been gone and very little people in the chain that i know anymore so I have no idear what the turners your going to will have you do. Heh, I love using receipts or safe affidavits when I can because I hate that ****ing law that requires me to sell more garbage to other gun owners.
The own code that everyone complains about is CYA. Which Turners are you going to? Its a long gun so you can use your safe affidavit.

Just point at the wall and say you have that exact safe. They'll go write down the model number and give you the affidavit to sign I say we did a pretty painless PPT!

+1. I did my first buyer ppt at my local Turner's in Reseda. I know from experience each Turner's is different and even the guy on duty can help you or screw you over.

I was unaware of the safe affidavit at the time, so I ended up having to get a gun lock and since it was part of the paperwork, the lady at the register told me (on 3 occassions as I was paying) that you can't return the locks.

So get a receipt from somewhere else.
