Looks like a variant of the SA 23. The SMG that inspired the UZI.

Appears to be a variant of the polish pm-06, but with an older VFG(from a pm-84 maybe?)

It's been around for at least a couple of years now, with no commercial US importer that I'm aware of interested in it.

Can't import it as a rifle thanks to the stupid sporting requirement for import. As far as a pistol, it'd be an expensive and bulky 9mm with probably limited parts availability. A version for us in CA is pretty unlikely(especially with SSE gone, and the roster that we're still stuck with, assuming they got imported in the first place and you'd be limited to PPTs from exempt people and intrafamily transfers).

The news never gets guns right, so the info that it was ''israeli'' should be discounted from the start.

The gun was seized in Canada, so it was unlikely to be a homemade sub gun build.

The grips don't match the SA-23 or the Uzi at all. It could be mistaken however for a Star Z84.

Well let's see...

The stock, grips, safety, mag catch, sights, top cover, lower receiver, forward grip, and trigger guard are all wrong.

The only way it looks like an uzi, is if maybe you're using something like this(which the canadian media apparently did since they said it was israeli... go figure).
