    Outdoor range

    Hi Guys,

Where is a good place to go for an outdoor range for rifle shooting in LA/OC area? Also, Is there an outdoor place where you can shoot basically unbothered by Range rules? YOu know like free style.

Well, since Angeles didn't burn down... I'm going to vote Angeles Range.

Burro is great if you rent a private bay. No ROs, you police amongst your own group.

Unbothered by range rules? I really hope you just worded that poorly. Those rules are the biggest safety net we have. Well, if you mean without a RO present, there are lots of places on public land that you can just go and shoot. Personally, I'd rather be "bothered by the range rules" at Angeles while using their excellent facilities than risk being bothered by who know who if I went shooting alone out in the middle of nowhere.

I think he was talking about some of the more questionable range "safety" rules. Things like no rapid fire, no human silhouettes, no more than 2 rounds in a sks, etc...

          of course, i'm just guessing...

Yes, chief has it about right. I am all for safety don't get me wrong. Probable better wording I could have used. Burro sound like a good place. Can I get more info on this place please.

If you ever want an unsupervised 1000 yard range with pits, join the Colinga range. They have excellent facilities, cheap overnight camping and I've even run my beltfed almost as fast as I could pull the trigger while shooting at some steel pigs on the 300 yard line.
