Ruger KGP-161 6'' revolver?

So im interested in purchasing a revolver online, and having it shipped to my local ffl, but since my recent purchase I have to wait until Jan. I heard that this model revolver will go off roster soon? Is that true?


My 2nd question would be what is single shot exemption? I tried reading up on it but I didnt clearly understand. I ask this because I spoke to the man off the gun site I wanted to purchase from, and he said I would need to check with my local ffl for single shot exemption and then convert the revolver back?


Sorry, but I was wondering if someone could dummy down and explain to me what that all means. Im still new to all this. So im trying to soak in everything. Forgive me if I sound stupid or newb.

The roster shows two 6" GP100's that will be on the roster through the end of 2015. Revolvers are expected to be renewed as they don't have the requirements that semi autos have.

For a revolver it would be a single action exemption where it would have to be converted to require you to cock the hammer to shoot it. Once purchased, it could be returned to its original single/double action function.

You would have until the end of next year, longer if it is renewed or the roster is tossed by the court.
