Fwiw, regarding sources for ammo in the East Bay, Trader's is still in business, now selling ammo, optics, firearm accessories, etc., as well as, the usual fishing, camping stuff. Don't know what their current inventory is like, but I've gotten good prices on case ammo there in the past, especially when on sale.

They could become the ammo and parts kingpins!
With Traders buying power they should be a Mecca for bulk bullets, power and reloading equipment. They should also buying and selling surplus ammo. It would be a big seller!VERITAS_223 is the member formerly known as Steyr_223.Comment

Kind of an interesting thing - ammobros wasn't able to sell firearms until recently, Trader's just lost their ability to do so. But I'm pretty sure that Ammobros knows more about being a bulk ammo retailer than Trader's does, since Trader's hasn't had to focus on it exclusively until recently.Primary author of gunwiki.net - 'like' it on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Gunwiki/242578512591 to see whenever new content gets added!Comment

True, but Traders is in NorCal..People may want to drive and pick up bulk ammo, reloading tools and powder..Otherwise I dont' see them staying open just selling camping/fishing equipment.VERITAS_223 is the member formerly known as Steyr_223.Comment

Trader's South African .308 prices,
from three weeks ago140 rd bandoliers @$69.99 and waterproof cases of 1240 rd @ $319.
.
Their prices better get a little bit more competitive, if they want to be the mecca for bay area gun supplies .

A little story about traders....
Many years ago, I went in there for some advice on ammo. I hadn't shot rifles in many years and wanted some brass cased ammo so I could reload it later. I told the older gentleman in there that I would like it to be better quality ammo.
My Bad, not knowing too much about ammo, he sold be some Amerc. You know the rest of the story....I never set foot in there again. I could have done a bit more of research, but trusted them to sell me decent ammo that would be reloadable. He could have sold me Black Hills, Win, RP or other high end ammo, I would have paid for it no probelm. Amerc....my bad. They lost a customer who spends a fair amount of green on firearms now by sliding it to me.
I think they wanted to dump crap on me because I didn't know better at the time.
Never again....

Say what you will about Traders but they move the mail. Even at $69.95 for 440 rounds of 7.62X54. As for the $675. for the Beretta 92FS before they lost there FFL those Berettas where going out the door on a average of six per week. At that rate of volume they do not have to give it away.Originally posted by NRAhighpowershooterTraders is too expensive!!

Traders had horrible prices walking in cold but had awesome prices on sales. You could pick up a Beretta 92 or 96 for under $500, I picked up my Sig 229 there for $550 nib. They also had good sale prices on their ammo, especially Fiocchi. I also picked up Portuguese .308 for $135 a couple years ago. You just had to watch the sale ads.Comment

You're right about those ammo sales
Aussie 308 was a great bargain too.
Is Trader's putting ads in the papers anymore? I haven't seen an ad in the Murky News for quite a while
No Sportsmen's Supply ads either for that matter...sigpicNRA Benefactor MemberComment
