Avoid elite firearm unlimited,
I went there today for ppt. I called earlier ask how much for ppt, they tell 40. I know years ago was 35, I think maybe the price went up. But it end up cost me 75 for transfer, they charge me 40 for ppt and 35 for Dros. I dont know is illegal or not.
Since the seller are in hurry to get back to SD, so I take the hit. But people need beware do not go to elite firearms unlimited at Laguna niguel.
I bought the rifle on 20, can pick it up till 3rd. ..

Report them. I had an issue in sd the guy threatened to not release my gun to me. He got some calguns justice when I publicly posted what happened and he still didn't want to make it right. Let's just say his yelp review dropped dramatically.

I did 1-2 there for the $35 earlier in year. Not good to see this. I did notice at the Orange location they refuse to do more than one PPT per transaction.

Report them. It clearly states that they cannot charge more than $35 total.

You have to be careful about the details.

I did a "PPT" recently where the seller sent the firearm to an FFL for the initial buyer (not me). The initial buyer never DROS'd it, but instead resold it to me. We met at the FFL, I gave the initial buyer the funds for the pistol, then DROS'd in my name. In that case the transaction looked like a PPT, but it wasn't. It was FFL -> me. So the FFL was free to charge me his fee for handling the shipped-in transfer.

I did couple ppt before is always 35, but I don't know state sets limited to 35 max.

I've visited the Orange store when they opened. The people working there were *****e$. Never went back.

Next time, google them first, so you don't have these type of hassles.

Years ago I won a Beretta shotgun in a drawing, decided to do the transfer at elite, check out the new guys in town so to speak. Basically they wanted 10% of the retail value of the gun to do the transfer. "you won it so that shouldn't be a big deal" was their attitude. I said no thanks and walked out the door.

edit: I do realize that for my type of transfer they are allowed to charge whatever they want, "what the market will bear" well this market (me) won't bear 10% of a $2000 shotgun, OC Armory was $70 IIRC

They can only charge you sales tax if it not a PPT and the item was from an out-of-state purchase, new or used, then you will pay a transfer fee on top of that as well. It used to be that you didn't have to pay sales tax either, or, rather, it wasn't enforced until about 2 years ago. Some stores charged, some didn't.

OP, to confirm, was your transfer face to face/ person to person, as in the seller met you there?

If you did meet the seller face to face at Elite, you should only have paid $30 or $35 at the most (and as stated above). If you have your firearm already in your possession, I say call them and ask them to make it right.

The guys at OC Armory don't pull shenanigans like that. Mike and his family are a good crew.
