    Recommendations for Gun Tool Kits?

Bought a few new guns this year so I figure I should buy some tools to help properly maintain/service them. Guns are a Mossberg JM Pro 24, Windham AR-15, and S&W M&P Full-size and Shield 9mm's. Looking for good quality, serviceable tools but don't want to break the bank on Professional Grade. Anyone have any recommendations as to what all I should get and what brands to consider? Hammer, Punches, Bench Block, ???

Here's some kits I found but have no idea if they're worth buying or include what I really need.

Those look fine to me. I use a cheap Winchester set from Walmart, its worked out just fine for me. Using the correct screw driver\bit is most important. I have a few old rifles that prove it

The next time you order from brownells include one of these.

Most "kits" for anything will have a lot of fluff. Be it tools, first aid or roadside emergency.
Plastic hammer, brass hammer, punches (I did get the whole set but have only ever used 3-4 for guns), screwdrivers, long allen wrenches (T-handle if possible), a security bit kit (can have some useful bits), blue Loctite, big channel locks...

Bought a couple of kits when I started. Didn't need half of the stuff in either. Found it much more cost effective to buy the individual pieces I needed and preferred and put my own kit together.

Get tools for exact guns you have and will work on.

I like the magna-tip screwdrivers from Brownell's. Not the cheapest alternative, and I'm sure many pros have higher-end gear, but here is a kit I cobbled together that works for me.

              080-102-081WB
Standard Set No. 2 w/ #81 Handle (Most of the flat tips you'll want.)

              080-115-000WB
Super-Set - Box and Tray Combo (Good fit, secure latch.)

              080-435-000WB
TORX Bit Set (You need these for many optic mounts.)

              080-144-000WB
"Other Bit" Master Kit (Phillips, square, and SAE allen.)

              080-118-000WB
Allen Head Bit Set (These are metric, and you may not need them.)

I couldn't post links because there are multiple items on each page. Sorry.

The "super set" offers a lot more flat tip widths and thicknesses, and if you have the cash it is a decent deal but most guys will only use about 15% of those bits.

This kit will give you flat tips for most jobs, plus torx bits for optic mounts, SAE and metric allen wrenches (everybody won't need the metric sizes), square and phillips heads, a good handle that is a good fit with the bits, and a good box to keep it together. The bits fit well in the handle, which is magnetized.

Get a hammer with brass and plastic heads and a set of punches.

A bench block like this helps a lot.

Shop gunsmithing tools (588) at Brownells, including bench blocks, hammer & punch sets, screwdrivers, and tool kits for firearm maintenance and repairs.

Grace USA makes quality tools. I have no complaints about the punches and screwdrivers I bought from them.

For the AR I'd recommend Wheeler's Delta Kit. It's around $200 but it will come with everything you need to maintain your AR and build future builds. The only thing I'd recommend in addition to this is a punch set from Brownells as the above poster said.
