    Carry laws on blm land

I was curious about the/ where i can find out what they laws regarding the carrying of a pistol on blm land in Imperial county while in my buggy. I have a house out in the desert out by superstition where we go to ride dirtbikes/ buggies, and I like to go out in the buggy at night because I think the landscape is really cool after dark. This desert is also very close to the border and has a lot of border patrol agents cruising around, and gets a lot of illegal alien traffic. I like to go putt around at night w my gf and I want to know if i can carry in my buggy or if it must be in a locked case like a car??? It is BLM land that is OHV approved, and my razor is not a street legal vehicle, niether is my dirt bike. You are also legally allowed to shoot there as well. Any help would be great. thank you!

Strictly speaking, CA law is not the critical factor for BLM land - but since BLM land is often physically adjacent to state parks and county land, it's important.

The comprehensive, if scattershot, thread for that answer is http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=186457

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Many believe that once mounted those safes become a "utility compartment". Thus felony to store a handgun in without CCW. However I know of no instances of anyone being prosecuted for this.

It may be a grey area.....but technically those safes are not permanently mounted. They mount to a bracket that is mounted to your vehicle. They are easily removeable if you can open them. Same idea as attaching a lock box with a cable......the bracket serves the same function as the cable.
