Question regarding shipping Optics Overseas
Tags: None -
If you put any of these in a UPS box and shipped it to as non-US location then my guess is that you would have breached the ITAR regulations if you did not get prior approval. The item itself may well already be sold in Sweden, but that would have involved the US exporter obtaining the necessary approvals to ship to a foreign location. However, this item may have been imported from a non-US location originally - the WM.com site isn't clear as to its origin, so this may not be controlled technology in any case.
Short answer - unless you are 100% certain, don't ship anything that could be ITAR controlled to anyone outside the US or to anyone who isn't a US person (citizen or LPR essentially) even if they are inside the US.There are no great men. Just great challenges which ordinary men, out of necessity, are forced by circumstance to meet. -
sounds like a great way to spend some time in an orange jumpsuitsigpic

It may be possible to get an export permit from the US Commerce dept, but you might need an import permit on the other side."I saved your life, AND brought you pizza" -- MeComment

Why can't he buy them directly?
Here's typical regulation for exporting:
"Several items on the website may require an export license, including, but not limited to, the following:
Generation 2, 3, or 4 Night Vision Equipment and Night Vision Accessories
Thermal Imaging Equipment
Optical Sighting Equipment and Accessories
Firearms, magazines, and rifle stocks
"
If I were you, I'd contact a reputable online business to ask them if they'll ship overseas for you. That would take care of any export issues on your side.Comment
