Compare RIA 2011 Midsize with Ruger SR1911 CMD

    Hi,

I'm looking for help and information.

I'm trying to make a decision on my last SSE and I'm considering a 1911. I have a fullsize Kimber .45 and a fullsize RIA 9mm, so I was thinking about a commander/midsize.

I wanted your feedback on the Rock Island Armory RIA 2011 VZ .45, as well as your feedback on the Ruger SR1911. I'd like to stay in the $650-$750 range. It will be a range gun.

If you have experience and knowledge about either gun, or both, I'd be so happy to get your input.

    Thanks in advance!

Specifically...do you know anything about the RIA 2011....I know about the 1911s, but what about the 2011s?

The look of them is really nice and appears to be an improvement on craftsmanship over the GI and tactical 1911s, but I'm wondering if anyone owns them.

Basically, if you want a rail or not, stainless steel or not.
2011 just means they added a rail to their 1911 Tactical, and other minor stuff.
2011 Hi Cap, is their double stack.

To add to your consideration: Springfield RO Compact (close to budget) or Champion Operator (slightly over budget).
Why/differences between the other 2: shortens the barrel/slide ~.25" more, ramped bull barrel, aluminum frame, weight is down about 5 ounces or more.

It will be more different shooting it than a commander 4.25" in all steel, compared to what you have already.

All else, I would go Ruger just because I do not have one.

Might get better answers over on the pistol forum.

AFAIK the only difference between the RIA 1911 and 2011 is the rail.

Is the RIA on the roster?
If yes, that may be the only significant difference. Both are good shooters from reputable companies. Availability of the gun this close to 12/31 may be your deciding factor.
You really can't go wrong with either
            I have a Ruger SR 1911 and 3 RIA's different calibers.
            I like 'em all.
