Three cheers for Ruger customer service

I have a GP100 that had a problem with the cylinder binding. Eventually the whole cylinder locked up and it was extraordinarily difficult to open it.

I had 2 options: send it to Ruger, or take it to a gunsmith. Having tried the gunsmith route before, I opted for Ruger customer service, and was pleasantly surprised.

A quick phone call got me an address and instructions on how to send my gun. It was about $80 to ship it but well worth it in the end.

I just got it back tonight, shipped straight to my house, and I must say it was $80 well spent!

It came back better than new. Ruger replaced the cylinder latch assembly, various springs, and part of the trigger group. Its hard to believe this gun is about 30 years old.

    Came in very secure packaging:

A nice touch was the literature, instruction manual, and stickers. Since I bought it used, I never received any of these.

I ended up paying $80 for a practically brand new gun. No doubt it will last another 30 years, with many thousands of .357 magnum put through it.

Couldn't be happier with the results of sending a gun back to Ruger, and I will never hesitate to buy another Ruger firearm again. Anyone know if Smith and Wesson has anything approaching this level of warranty? I would sure love to send a revolver back to them!

Smith and wessons quality control has gone down the drain, I just sent back a brand new 629 competitor with a front sight that can be pushed out by hand. They paid for shipping and I also had it fedexed to my house.

Ruger paid shipping both ways last month for a LC9 that needed attention. I had it back within a week from Prescott.

at first i was a bit surprised they hit you with the shipping, but, after i saw you were talking about a 30 year old gun, and, you got it back in such great shape, well, $80.00 is well worth it

yeah, sounds like they gave you your moneys worth, pretty fair deal

        congrats :thumbups:

I have always been pleased with Ruger's customer service. They went the extra mile on bott of my warranty claims. Even paid for the second DROS when they had to replace my wife's SR22 pistol.

My buddy had a SBH in .41 Mag that got shot a bunch.
It was an early non-transfer bar gun.
He sent it to Ruger for the transfer bar update.
He asked Ruger to replace all the screws, and he would pay for them.

When the gun came back, Ruger had added the transfer bar, returned the original parts, replaced the screws, tightened the lock-up and re-blued the whole gun for free!
It was beautiful, tight and looked like a new gun.

Sad face...the gun was now so nice that he put it away in a box and hasn't shot it since.
But, you can't fault Ruger's customer service!

Yes, this kind of support makes customers for life!

Ive only had it for a few years and put maybe 5 or 6 thousand rounds through it. No idea how many total are through it but the barrel is still great and its still accurate as hell.

Ruger is great but always call and ask that if the gun is faulty what their solution will be. I have heard of some guns being declared unsafe and no return was possible but they do offer a replacement usually. Just be careful because once it is shipped you may not get it back.

Yeah if my wife's SR22 had broken just a few months later we would have been s**t-outta-luck on a replacement. Thanks to California's stupidazz roster.
