SSE AR15 or Final 2015 Long Gun Purchase

I may just have one more long gun buy and am seeking the best advice for an AR or Long Gun that not only is a quality gun, but wont be available in 2015.

Excuse me if I am misinterpreting current laws, I just want to make a purchase very soon with the best background info before January 1st 2015 if in fact that makes a difference on my options, thank you to all!

From what I know, there is no law massively affecting long guns coming 2015.

The end of SSE is for handguns and AR pistols.

No, not really. Nothing so special it's worth going out of your way for. You have plenty of time to buy long guns or any special AR. You have a matter of several weeks to get your off-roster handguns through SSE route.

If I were you, I would look into holiday deals and specials, and immediately buy a SSE handgun as well as look for private individuals selling SSE handguns (that you want).

It will be a pain for you to buy off-roster handguns later on, because of supply and demand.

Good luck and welcome to the SSE craze.

          This^^^^^^^^^^

And welcome to Cal Guns OP.

Here's my advice. Pick a nice off roster handgun that you really desire. It won't be available again after 1-1-15.

When you buy this off roster gun, buy an AR Stripped Lower for $80-100 bucks and you can add it to the DROS no charge. Save that additional DROS fee and in 10 days you can pick up both items; the cool handgun AND the AR Lower.

The AR stripped lower is considered a long gun and has the serial number.

Then, at your leisure, buy the parts off the internet, various gun stores to build yourself a nice AR 15. With prices low on AR parts these days you can probably build a great Rifie for $600 bucks or so.

May the Bridges I burn light the way.

Now thats what I call being Holiday crafty! I will look into a lower and combined DROS now that you reminded me I could do it at the same time.

Could I DROS an SSE on Dec. 29 for example and pick up 10 days later into the new year or must the pick up date be before 1-1-15 to be eligible?

Depends on the FFL. Here is a list to look at, but best to confirm with the FFL. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=999670

As usual do not rely on that list, confirm with your FFL as some are capacity limited and will not take any more orders.
