My wife took a sociology class this semester and the professor is urging her to go anti-gun but she refuses to. She asked me to ask CGN to help her with the paper because she knows how much I spend time on here (so she says). Anyone want to help add anything? Thanks!

For starters. I would offer to take the professor to the range.
Second, I would try to incorporate scenarios where a gun is your best chance at survival... start with things that could happen in your home - burglaries, home invasion. Then move those scenarios to the public. Mention mass shootings and how they might have been prevented with armed citizens. Then mention the attempted mass shootings that were actually thwarted by an armed citizen. -
There are not 300 million gun owners in America, there are about 300 million guns in America.
"Owning a gun is a constitutional right of a citizen",,, close but not quite correct. Owning a gun is a God-given right to defend that which God gave you,,, your life. Owning that gun is a constitutionally PROTECTED right that the government cannot take away.Last edited by dunndeal; 12-05-2014, 10:21 AM.Those that call the US Constitution a living, breathing document only want to asphyxiate liberty.

Oh, Oh and how prompt the police are at arriving in the neck of time to save you from those murderer's.
Oh, Oh and how they'll not be busy with riots (donuts) and such to do this saving.
YOU DON'T NEED A GUN TO PROTECT YOURSELF, the Gov, will do that for you
Ask the politicians with the armed guards, they'll tell you, you don't need a gun...Comment

I had a similar discussion with a professor in college. He said that guns aren't necessary in our more metropolitan area, that's what the police are for. His point was that no one in the bay area NEEDS guns. I asked him if it drove a car. He said yes. I told him guns are nothing more than tools, just like cars. They can be hobbies, just like cars. They have different uses, just like the various vehicles sold to the public. Then I asked him why he needed a car, since he lives in the bay area, with BART, the bus system, MUNI, etc. I know it's a skewed comparison, but my goal was to take the "dangerous" aspect out of the equation and hopefully give them a different perspective. Afterall, cars are more dangerous than guns in the right/wrong person's hands. Take a stroll through an asian shopping center's parking lot and you'll know what I mean (I'm Chinese so I speak from experience).

Last but not least, invoke the fear of the upcoming Zombie invasion. That should convince him...For starters. I would offer to take the professor to the range.

That's a joke, but for every one of your scenarios, he'll come back with the chances of that happening over accidental deaths by gun owners in their own home on their own family...Comment

Even better than offering to take the professor, end the paper by saying that if anyone has an interest in getting some first-hand insight you'll arrange to take them as well- not just the professor. Winning hearts and minds...For starters. I would offer to take the professor to the range.

Never take more than 3 people at a time. More than that is too difficult to supervise.Comment

Yeah, 3 is a good number, but if you only let them shoot 1 at a time, you can manage a few more people (depending on the range of course). I think an important part of the experience is to watch other first time shooters and I think that can help un-demonize guns to them.
Also try to avoid sharing targets between shooters as most of them will want to take their targets home.Comment

I had an anti in college... i wrote every topic on the degradation of our once civilized society and guns...she gave me an ultimatum...stop writing about these topics. I didn't . The Dean sat in on one of our lectures and gave a me a standing O...i got an A.."When the system breaks down, you get to vote from the rooftops. Its one of the last best traditions of western enlightenment"
"This was an IQ test/science experiment of Josef Mengele proportions, and the public willingly lapped it up. And many failed". (me, on Wuhan flu, 2022)
Question EVERYTHING.
"Sure buddy. Whatever you say. Whatever you gotta tell yourself to sleep at night"Comment

Yeah.... pretty much this- is the easy way to just get through....Originally posted by CAguyI wouldn't waste my time on a liberal anti-professor. Just pick an easier bullspit topic that will go over well and easy. An easy A is the same as a hard earned A but with a lot less work.
Most of the colleges are a joke these days anyway. You have people graduating that can't read very well, speak broken English, and that are generally all around aptitude challenged. You just need to show up, listen to the liberal agenda, and turn in minimal work.
Why make waves? Keep the politics out of it and skate by.
