Looking at these for my AR upper.Could one of you gents give me your advice on which model would be right for a dedicated .22LR upper? Thanks

I have a complete CMMG upper, it's not the same as a conversion kit. But I must say I was surprised at how well it functioned. It ran 100% using all kids of ammo and I was even more surprised when it ran my low power target ammo without a hiccup.

Agree with russ, I have the complete upper and love it. Don't have any experience with the bolt only but you won't have any regrets with just buying the entire upper.

I built a .22 AR with the CMMG WASP Upper, it is the Bees, not Wasps Knees.

I bought the bolt and barrel when Midway put 'em on sale (this was before CMMG offered a stainless version) and installed them in an upper that I had on hand. Works perfectly and eats most rimfire ammo.

They offer the barrel/bolt combo here if you were thinking about building a complete rimfire upper.

If you just want to stick a conversion unit in your 5.56 upper, any of the 10 round packages listed here will work. Bear in mind that if your 5.56 barrel is a 1/7 twist, accuracy may be affected. That's one good reason in my mind, at least, to build a truly dedicated upper for rimfire.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

I had failure to fire issues with the barrel/bolt conversion kit I bought a while back from midway.

After lots of advice from CMMG on what might fix it, they finally had me send it back for repair.

They replaced the bolt with a stainless one.

Still haven't gotten a chance to take it out, but I'm hopefull.
            Sorry, not sorry.

Problem with the just bolt for 22lr is twist rate of your barrel and it wont be accurate.

Dedicated upper is the only way to go. Its not fun when your groups are 6" at 20 feet

True, with my drop-in Spikes bolt in my 1:9" AR, it was, at best, doing orange-grapefruit sized groups at 50yds. With my dedicated CMMG upper (1:16"), I can make dime-quarter sized holes almost as easily as with my custom 10/22.

I have a cmmg wasp dedicated upper, and like others have said it is very reliable and very accurate. Taccom makes a bolt for a fair price if you decide to build, and they sell barrels there too. http://www.taccom3g.com/ar-22lr-bolt-assembly.html

Could you tell me if I can use my own barrel with this bolt? I have a Green Mountain bull barrel blank that I'm using in my upper.

Buy yourself a Glenfield Model 60. It's 100x better than an upper IMO. 18 round tubular also, my sights are off, they are shot... But I found the ghetto calculaton adjustment mod at 50 yards. Shoot at ground = bullseye.. Surprised myself and my friends last time at the range. All rounds on paper around bullseye , they were surprised how my theory played out ... Out of everything I own, this is my favorite unit. It's like a. 22lr AK. The wood stocks plus metal weight gives it life. I suggest in the older models, probably tinker with it 2015.

I have a CMMG Stainless conversion kit with the CMMG charging handle and it works flawlessly !!! I use black dog mags and Federal Bulk ammo. I'm able to swap it to multiple ARs and the accuracy is not an issue for plinking and getting range practice with your AR without breaking the wallet

To this day I still say it's one of the best investments/upgrades I've done to any of my AR's yet.

I would highly reccomend anyone to get one. Just right now it's a little tough to find ammo for it. Other than that they are great. Let's you bring your AR to just about any range. Even the non rifle friendly ones.

Also fun for girls and kids to shoot for cheap and shoot like it's a BB gun.

Skip to 2:40 if you want to skip to the shooting.
