    S.S.E. for the Boss Lady

Ok, so my lady is possibly getting a handgun. Yesterday, we went to the shooting range and she saw a S&W Shield. She liked the size of it.

I browsed the internet to show her a few handguns with similar sizes. I showed her these pistols:

    Beretta - Nano
    Glock - G26 & G42
    S&W - Shield CA Compliant
    Springfield Armory - Mod.2
    Walther - PPK

I am not sure if shooting ranges can rent out off-roster handguns, but if they did, would any of you know which shooting ranges in L.A. or any neighboring county rent these out (except for the G26)?

If you guys know any other handgun you would like to mention with a similar size, please feel free to mention it (9mm or .380ACP only and under $650 please). Revolvers are no problem!

Also, any positive or negative criticism of these pistols I mention above are welcome!

Why a sub-compact? Is she planning on carrying? Less recoil with a fullsize.

So they can wear the panties holster! I wish us men have a underwear/brief/boxer holster, hmmm, another patent idea coming.....
I suggest a G26/G27, depending on her caliber preference, and how she handles recoil...
I would definitely check into the SSE units you were interested in also, so you can share range time with her unit, with things you wish you had, and now have a chance to shoot at the range with her.

Well, the reason for a sub-compact is that she feels a compact is too big. Shes tried a G19 and my PPQ M2 and still felt they were too big.

I felt the same way about the gun being bigger = less recoil. Maybe, it might be a mental thing.

Another gun I will bring up to her attention will be the CZ 2075 Rami BD. I saw a video by Sootch00 and its almost exactly the same size as the G26/G27 Any thoughts?

My wife is a big fan of two pistols in particular: Glock 42 and CZ P-01. I have to say, I completely echo her sentiments. The G42 is of course off-roster but are known to be quite obtainable via SSE and even PPT. The CZ P-01 is currently on the CA roster.

P-01 wouldn't be bad. Good ergos and being steel, less felt recoil. On roster too so you could use that precious SSE slot for yourself.

My wife insisted on a pocket rocket with the belief it would be easier to manage. Common mistaken belief. I could not dissuade her and I wanted her to shoot so she got a G26.
Not long after sold it and her tiny hands enjoy a SP-01.

If you don't mind .380 then get a G42, you will not regret it.

It's a great shooter and a perfect size. Only downside is 6+1 capacity.

Here's the dimensions for G42 from glock.com, maybe you can find something similarly sized if the G42 doesn't do it for you.

              LENGTH:
              151 mm / 5.94 in.
              WIDTH:
              24 mm / 0.94 in.
              LENGTH BETWEEN SIGHTS:
              125 mm / 4.92 in.

              HEIGHT:
              105 mm / 4.13 in.
              SLIDE WIDTH:
              21 mm / 0.83 in.
              BARREL LENGTH:
              82.5 mm / 3.25 in.

              UNLOADED:
              390 g / 13.76 oz.
              LOADED:
              ~407 g / ~14.36 oz.

good that you want to rent and shoot before making the purchase. while a handgun may look right and feel right at the shop, shooting it may result in a much different experience than what was anticipated.
