    Armor plate question

I'm thinking of buying a pair of ar500 plates on their Black Friday sale. I was wondering if the curved plates are worth the extra money. I was doing some research and found that a lot of people get the curve plates for the front and keep the flat plates for the back. Is it worth the extra money for the curved rear plate

I like curved front, flat back. Seems to fit well and can sit easily this way too.

          2 parts.

          you will never use it.

if you use it you want the curve (ive tried both).

          so it really depends.

Before we automatically conclude that "spall will get you".
Are there any case study or research actually indicates that a modern "properly coated" steel plate still poses danger to the wearer?

If you're ordering from AR500 Armor, more like enjoy the wait time

                Coating lasts 2-3 hits.

Spall hurts WAY less then a round into the chest cavity.

There are companies making anti-spall pouches for steel plates out of Kevlar that will take care of the issue though.

Correct me if I was wrong, but aren't most ceramic plates also only last about 3 hits?
So if you were shot multiple times at same spot, it's going to be bad anyway.

I went with patriot plates. Google them. Go curved.

Curved. Shooting a rifle with a flat plate is uncomfortable and distracting.

This argument is getting really old.

                            This.

Given the statistical probability of actually taking a round, worrying about spall is just plain silly. Of course, most would argue that we're all silly for even talking about armor in the first place.

Respectfully, that is silly. If you're wearing armor you must think you might get hit. Spall will happen and it will hurt. Don't worry though, you're safe behind your keyboard, no spall there.
