Do you watch Boston Legal?

Denny Crane, shoots a bad guy in a parking lot who is trying to rob him and a associate in a parking garage. Bad guy pulls a gun on them demanding watches and cash. Denny pulls out his 1911 and shoots him 3 times once in the knee and once in each foot.

The case in court is about the 2A and the right to carry concealed.

Denny Crane was not legally carrying but defended himself against a bad guy at gun point. He wanted to lose the case becaue he knows that in order to get the law changed he must appeal it to a higher court.

The legal arguments for CCW were interesting.

Did he get off? You'll have to watch. This weeks episode will continue next monday so if you can watch the re-run and next week it should be good.

It's nice to have the 2A discussed and debated in prime time TV even if it's fiction.

i'm betting he gets a civil lawsuit for malicious wounding and he will get off by saying well is this worse than being dead?

I saw that and it goes well with his character. Although I doubt it was a 1911, more of a prop gun that is indistinguishable. When police came to arrest him he had 5 different guns on him

There are guns that look something like a real gun, but can only fire blanks.
There are guns that look like real gun but is only a rubber mold,
There are guns that are real guns.

Boston Legal has had an on & off relationship with the 2nd - remember a few years ago they had someone stalking a female attorney and he ended up being shot by Lara Flynn Boyle? Of course there were the "handguns only hurt people" line or two thrown in when the heavy girl was illegally buying a gun.

I don't know that I'd want a real Denny Crane to have a gun, but in the context of an eccentric show I suppose it's a positive.
