Huntington Beach cyclist arrested with small arsenal

    Ok. Which CGNer is missing?

What began as a ride in the park turned into a serious weapons arrest for one man in Huntington Beach this week. A man was riding a bike Wednesday night near Beach Boulevard and Garfield Avenue when Huntington Beach police officers…

Police: Bicyclist stopped in H.B. found with guns, knives, ammo, collapsible baton

"What began as a ride in the park turned into a serious weapons arrest for one man in Huntington Beach this week.
A man was riding a bike Wednesday night near Beach Boulevard and Garfield Avenue when Huntington Beach police officers stopped him for several bicycle equipment violations.
After police stopped him, they found he was carrying a loaded handgun, several loaded magazine rounds and several knives.
Inside a nearby bag, several more loaded magazines, a knife and a collapsible baton were found.
He was arrested on various weapons charges."

The liberal see's the glass as half full and tries to take more.
The conservative see's glass as half empty and tries to keep it that way.
I'm with the people on the side just pouring water in the glass trying to get a drink!

"stopped him for several bicycle equipment violations"

I'm curious about the "bicycle equipment violations." Do the police search everyone who rides a bike at night without a headlight? I'm guessing he stood out in some other way, but the only legal way to stop him was to cite equipment issues.

The baton maybe the highest charge as a felony.

Article is misleading. "Guns", I only seen one handgun in the pic, not much of an arsenal.

I am totally unfamiliar with Hunting Beach so I dont know if that neighborhood is really getto or sketchy. However, I still think 'bicycle equipment violations' is total bull**** even if it was just an excuse for probable cause. I hope this guy turns around and sues the **** out of that department

What happens is a felon gets out of jail, and has learned driving around is risky for people like him because it’s almost impossible to avoid probable cause and get pulled over.

The good cops know the state and city bicycle regulations too along with the vehicle code.

You better have all the required reflectors on your bike, and be up and up on safety equipment, and any required city bicycle registrations and fees.

You see these guys all the time riding BMX bikes around without shirts on and all tatted up. I'm pretty certain that's exactly the kind of guy they stopped.

The only thing that seems illegal is the baton and one of the knives (the non-folding one). Those magazines even appear to be single stack, not even 10+. Looks like this chap is going to lose it all however. If the same thing happened in AZ, there wouldn't even be an arrest and the media parroting that an 'arsenal' was discovered.

                    I hate you, Kalifornia.

Not a bad area of HB. Relatively high income.
Truth be told, HBPD isn't going to stop a white spandex-wearing dude in his 40s on his $2K race bike. So I'm sure they just mentioned the bike laws as an excuse to stop the guy.
