    PPT deterence

So a good number of FFL's don't like to do PPT's we've all seen this. I think this shop takes the cake, they will do your PPT but here are the hoops you must jump through for us to do it!

I did a transaction at Hunters Supply in Monterey yesterday and talk about anal. On the 4473 they, not ATF or DOJ require that you spell out every word, if you live on a court it must be court not ct. You cannot use Ca. for the place of birth, this one really rocked me, any place there is a date, the entire month must be spelled out and you must use the complete 4 digit year YYYY.

If you make a mistake while the counter person is hovering over you, they will take your form and insert it into the shredder and make you start all over again.

All boxes must have a complete X no / allowed, you cannot go outside any of the lines, it your ink touches the perforation of the form, you got it start over.

I'm sure they were as happy to see me leave as I was to go, the only down side is I have to go back there in 10 days.....

I've always been told you need to spell everything out completely- no abbreviations - From many different dealers. It makes sense that everything should be neat.

If they pass on your paperwork typo, they gonna get in big trouble with the gov, so it's not them but the commiefornia regulations

I have always been told at every dealer to spell everything out except for that one spot for state that's only big enough to put the two letter abbreviation in.

As to the rest of it, I think I might have made them go through an appreciable amount of their 4473s just to return the favor.

Spell out the month? Where it asks for DOB and date of transaction, they want month spelled out in those little boxes designed for MM 2 digits.

I've always had to do this at any shop. Not so sure they were trolling you man.

I have always had to spell out the words completely and clearly. I don't remember the knit picking about going outside of a line though.

My last PPT, I recall having to spell out "CALIFORNIA".

They probably got some kickback from the feds on some form at some point.

I hate to say it but this is part of the reason I don't like buying guns.I have such bad arthritis in my hands its really hard for me to write. I need the 4473's to be 10x bigger.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Their shop, their regs. Dosen't take much time to do the paperwork. At the last shop, sales rep sat at the table with me and went over every item on the form. That was fast and efficient. That was their way of doing things.

we had "not outside the line" for Armed Guard permits and they weren't being pricks, just dealing with CA

plus, being able to produce a really, really neat report is important in the biz
Am I a good shot!?!, YEAH I'M A GOOD SHOT!....i just got bad aim
