AR500 Banshee plate carrier versus Shellback tactical Banshee

I cant find much info on Shellback tacticals website, since it is a HORRIBLY designed website. I did see some reviews on both plate carriers and both the AR500 banshee and the Shellback Banshee look nice, although just wanted some opinions here if anyone has any experience with either of these plate carriers. Thanks again guys,

I has this one. I went with Patriot plates, curved and side plates. Can't remember who recommended those but they seem to be preferred over the AR500. Holy schmoly that's a heavy setup. Also make sure, if you do go with side plates, to get the right size. The ones I got (on sale of course) make it so that the plate leans away from my body unless I tuck my arms in to hold it in place.

The Shellback banshee is pretty comfy once you get it on. I don't have a lot of stuff on it. Just a holster for a pistol. And I probably won't go full tactical with it.

Look up morale patches when you get home. There are some funny ones out there but not for work viewing (NSFW).

Check out the nutnfancy review. the shell back tactical and banshee are pretty much the same thing. I'd go with the dkx plates.

Another option is to get something like the US Palm carrier that comes with soft armor. You could wear it for normal bump-in-the-night stuff (where you aren't likely to encounter an AR15 wielding intruder) and then add the AR500 (heavy) plates during a real SHTF situation.

on edit: If you live near a military base there are a lot of the older style vests (with soft armor and sometimes even plates) being sold on the yard sales website for LOW prices.

You will need the extra shoulder pad kit with the Shellback if you are using steel plates. It cuts into my shoulders without it. Otherwise its a pretty solid carrier.

Thanks guys. I couldnt tell if the shellback had the pockets for sideplates. I noticed not alot of people wear sideplates anyhow.

Id be getting some soft armor as well eventually, just gonna be doing some training classes so I want to be getting some gear for the training.

US palm was on my option list but their carriers are about $250-$300 versus the $170 for the banshee

            Anyone like the mayflower?

The US Palm price includes soft armor though.

I looked on the US palm website and I'm seeing these carriers going for $599 and $799? And they don't even stock them

Midway shows them at lower prices and some are in stock while others are back orderable

I have the shellback. It's a quality unit but if I were doing it over I'd go with something that took soft armor AND plates. one set up but you can choose to add the extra weight depending on the application

^ I believe all banshee rigs can take soft armor in place of plates?

Will check out the two links now. Thnx bros.
