    Harris vs Atlas bipods

After using both, I think I prefer the Harris more. It seems to me I don't need to worry about preloading the Harris, especially on a light recoil rifle. The Atlas, on the other hand, you have to preload it or the POI shifts quite a bit at longer range. So the Harris is great for rapid setup and awkward shooting positions. I use standard rubber feet on both.

What are your likes/dislikes on these two bipods?

I have never used atlas bipod before. I have mostly Harris Bipod and one or two clones like blackhawk and champion. My Harris Bipod has never failed me once and it's half the cost of atlas. If your patient you can get a good deal on the fs section. I was lucky enough to buy a few them here for less than $50.

      Haha!
I thought it was Harris v. Atlas.
As in a court case suing the Attorney General.

BTW, I have VLTOR ModPods on my M1A and a long range AR-15.
They add a bit of bulk - but not weight - to the stock but they act more like a bench rest/sand bag /cradle than a platform. I'm not sure if that makes sense or there is a real tested difference between the two.

Forgive me for my lunch brain...

I much prefer the Harris bipods and have a few sets of them. The very tall ones work great for tall grass areas and shooting on slopes. Light weight and can take a beating.

I've got both on a heavier rifle like the ba110 the Atlas shines and the weight naturally pre loads it.On my Kimber svt the Harris is prefered. One thing I do like about the atlas is its ability to lock in different positions other than straight leg.

              Don't mean to thread jack,

is there a US-made bi pod that traverses as well as swivels?

What you mean as traverse the Atlas does.

I personally like the atlas. It's made heavy duty and has more options than the Harris. Cost wise you can buy 3 of the Harris bipods and still have some money left. Nothing wrong with the Harris bi pod at all I guess it comes down to money and options

Have both love both. Each has its application. Both have pros and cons

I like the Atlas because you can fold the legs backwards.
