    Trigger lock help...

    Hi all-

Been a lurker for awhile, I guess this is my first post and I hope someone can help me out. I just PCS'ed back Stateside from overseas, my brother had my guns in storage while I was gone...and he lost the keys to the trigger locks, along with a couple really expensive paddle holsters and all my cleaning kit.

As I was stationed here before, I have the memo from the state that clears the guns via serial # check, so I can prove they are mine.

Master lock was no help, do I go to a gunsmith or a locksmith? And can anyone recommend one in the Beale AFB area? (Roseville, Auburn, Grass Valley, Penn Valley even Sacramento...)

    Thanks in advance-

    John

I would suggest a smith, they made keys for me over the years with out having one (key) to dupe.

You can also call local gunshops. Some of us older shops have key rings full of Master locks, master keys. I'm too far away to be a help to you, but maybe one of your local shops has a master key ring.

Drill it out. Normally the locks are fairly soft. Locksmiths charge quite a bit and you can get a new lock.

There are a bunch of guys on YouTube that show all sorts of ways to pick locks of all sorts of brands. Give that a try.

Take it to a locksmith first....if you haven't removed the stamped number from the trigger lock the locksmith can make a new key quite easily and for only a few bucks and you still have the trigger lock.

I did that for one I had locked up for over 15 years and it only cost me about $6 to get a new key....easier than I thought!!!

You can pop those locks off with a screwdriver. Trigger locks are a joke.

There is a video around youtube of a guy who goes on a speach about locks and quality of locks at a Lock and Key convention or something like that. And actually shows you how to disassemble one of hose trigger locks with in 30 seconds. I'll see if I can find it and post back when I get home.

Those locks are faily easy to break open when locked. So don't go racking up a gun smith bill as of yet.

If you will be in the Fresno area anytime soon, I have a brand new lock pick set that can use some breaking in. Those locks are usually pretty easy and I could use the practice.
