So I go to a LGS. In the past they haven't ever had anything but I try to buy stuff if they have something I can use. Hadn't been in for awhile so I noted to the guy at the counter that they had grown. He said it had been six months. So I ask how's business. Great! Then I commented on primers in the case and asked if they carried powder now.
"What are you looking for?"
4198 and 4064
"Got 8lbs of 4064 but that's going home with me."
Guess I gotta come back and maybe the next 8lbs will be up for sale?"
"Nope. That guy's gonna get it." Points at another counter guy.
Didn't say anything. Just paid for my ammo and left. But now that I think about it, **** those guys. Basically just told me don't bother checking back. Fine. Good luck with that attitude. Dick.
I'll drive another 20 minutes to the guy I went to earlier this week. When I asked about a powder, he said no but asked what caliber I was reloading and when he wasn't sure about what powder he pulled out a reloading magazine. We then talked about different powders, his recommendations and looked up a few things. I ended up buying two pounds when I was going in for one.
Talk about a contrast in customer service.
UPDATE
So I got an email response from Don Rinkor this morning. Here is part of it:
Which I thought was pretty nice of him. I hope he can share my experience with his staff, modify some attitudes and make his shop even better. At would be nice to have fairly close LGS that I can go to versus getting everything over the interwebs.

I'm assuming they were joking around, and not being professional. This is definitely not how we run our business ... professional and ethical service is what we strive to provide ... every time.
I apologize that they handled your simple request in this manner. They could easily have explained the situation without joking around.
....
Again, please accept my apology, and give us a chance to make this up in some way.
