    Rifle or AR

Hello, I have a question regarding my AR that was registered before having to specify that it is an AR. I want to sell to raise some money but I hesitate selling my AR lower that is registered without specificity. Should I sell or not?

You can't sell a registered AR to anyone in state.

It's not registered as an AR but just a rifle, I believe.

I'm not a FFL, please detail dros a bit for me so I can reply more accurately.
I never assembled my AR, I am only talking about my lower.

This is a fully compliant AR lower that has not been assembled into a rifle. If it was it would only require a bullet button and proper length barrel. As I understand the law today If I were to purchase a lower only it would have to be registered as a AR, am I correct?

Starting Jan 2014, long guns are registered when DROS'ed just like handguns. Have you read the CGN Wiki?

Did I fail to mention I bought and registered this over two years ago?
                  My apologies

My question stands, just not in light of the latest law

If you bought it 2 years ago nothing was "registered" with the state. Just sell your gun.

                      1. Find a buyer
                      2. Both of you go to a FFL and do a PPT ( Private Party Transfer) fee will be $35
                      3. Take the money and leave your part is now done.

You can legally sell it as long as it is not a Registered Assault Weapon, which, seeing you bought it two years ago, it isn't. While it is not registered at all, to sell it, you will have to take it to a FFL to have it legally transferred to the buyer.

If I registered it two years ago I also am asking if there is a desirability in keeping it because of its anonymity as to it being an AR?

How did you register it two years ago? Who did you register it with? Why do you think that your AR is anything special? Anyone can go to almost any gun store and just buy one today. They are a dime a dozen right now.

You bought it two years ago.

At that time, DROS did not collect make/model/caliber info on long guns. It isn't registered. (Beginning 2014, DROS does collect that info - in most usages, guns transferred now are registered: long guns and hand guns, FFL transfers and intrafamily transfers and new-resident imports.)

If you believe having a long gun without specific info given to the state is important/valuable, then you should keep it (and probably build it up into a complete rifle). If you need money, then you might sell it; as noted, it won't bring a lot when sold.
